I was in Best Buy about an hour or two ago, and I saw Padgett when I was walking out. I turned around and walked up to him, and shook his hand and said "Scott Padget right? Good luck next season." And all he did was shake my hand and grunt. But, hey, I am sure he gets that alot.
You know I don't think he does. Other than his dumbo ears most people aren't going to recognize him...
I think sometimes it is hard for those guys to remember what a priveledge it is to be in their position. It may seem crazy, but I've known quite a few people who've been in the spotlight. Some love it and some hate it. Some really are private people who just happen to do a job that requires them to be in the spotlight. They'd be just as happy doing it in front of no one. It's a good idea with any famous (or semi-famous in the case of Padgett) person to remember that everyone is different in how they deal with people coming up and talking to them. Now, if they are rude, that's a different story.
Everyone has bad days. Like Jeff mentioned, there are people behind the public persona. Now, if Scott developed a history of being ****ty to fans, that would be more of a story. cwebbster, you were lucky to spot him. No rockHEAD verification??
