My computer has been running slow, and making loud fan noises, so I decided to get a can of air and clean that sucker out.

Well, it is like an all new machine......it was full of dust on the processor's heat sink as well as the power supplies fan.

So, I recommend that all of us around these here parts scoosh regularly.

It has made a massive difference in our house.

I used to dust my computer out regularly. Considering how heavy my computer is and how easily the dust came back (within a week), I just stopped caring about that. So I only dust after upgrading a part.

I just tried to do this for the first time on my iMac.

    It was kind of fail.

One of the bad things about a self contained computer. :(

Wow I have never done that my desktop and still haven't.

It blows and blows when I turn it on but, I really thought it was sorta an old computer by now since I purchased it almost 3 years ago I thought it was normal for computer it's age.

I should cut my laziness and get in there to get it cleaned.

    Thanks for the tip...

Yes I did 2 computers yesterday am going to do 3 more today.

Most cases these days do not even require a screw driver, and then there is usually a piece of plastic over the heat sink, just lift that too...and blow blow blow.....pause.

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to computer, but someone told me to do this because my computer has been running slow lately.

Anyway, my question is...... this actually works!? I thought he didn't know what he talking about, but wow. I'll have to do this tonight.

It currently sounds like a leaf blower if I have more than what, one window open. It's definitely annoying.

    Thanks for the info!

I thought it was dubious as well, but I am not kidding it is running majorly fast........

And the dust helps hold the heat in on the processor slowing it down....making the fan work extra hard which also generates heat.

I am amazed at the difference it has made.

Looking back on it, I should have listened to the guy that told me to do this. He is, afterall, the IT guy at the company I work for. It just seemed so farfetched. I've had my computer for going on 5 years and I thought it was just natural for it to start slowing down.

Makes sense. Thanks for the new info!
