Durant is a low percentage volume shooter but he has the tools to be great. He's not gonna brick forever.

I think Scola being an internationally experienced "rookie" will work against him in favor of a U.S. bred out-of-college "true" rookie. So it'll either be Durant or Horford. Horford if the Hawks make the playoffs.

Scola should win ROY. However I believe the stupid US media will not vote for him. :D

Scola is beyond Rookie of the Year talks. Scola is the starting power forward for one of the elite teams in the NBA. That's worth a lot more than ROY for a team with no direction or in search for direction.

Personal accolades take a back seat to winning. Ask McGrady and Yao Ming, they are all sacrificing personal stats for the sake of winning on the team.

McGrady the once perennial scoring champ threat hasn't cared about scoring titles. I'm sure that an NBA trophy would look a lot better to Scola than a consolatory trophy which is the Rookie of the Year - the one going to the best player on the worst team. Exceptions do exist like with Duncan, James, etc., but those are the exceptions - it's just a way to hype bad teams.

    Luis is not some kid.

He was embarrassed to be in NO and I bet he sure doesn't care about winning ROY.

Those awards are worthless anyway... Amare over Yao? Please.

NBA won't mind, Durant will win it....
However, we can easily tell that Scola is a winner,he is polished, experienced(although not in NBA but in FIBA) "rookie" veteran. he is TODAY and Durant is TOMMOROW,the day after tommorow maybe ;)
counting from talent, Durant is a swing man who has more skillset and athleticsm, while Scola is a typical 4 which has amazing footworks and solid fundamentals, he wont suprise you with a 360 reverse dunk but he will pump fake you up 3 times and then put in a lay-up in your face :D

durant has the tools to be great but as of right now, he's really not shooting effectively. when you can't get your jumper to fall what does any good player do? DRIVE IN FOR A LAYUP. not specifically a dunk per say but the closer you get to the basket the better your FG% is (generally in most cases..) as of this moment i think durant is very overrated. at least lebron was shooting very well and he contributed almost immediately. seriously though take Lebron off the Cavs and you have a team resembling memphis... -.-" that being said i dont think durant will ever be as good as james atm. luis scola should have a legit shot at ROY but it doesn't really matter imo the guy's not 18-24 and he's not looking for fame, he's actually set on winning.

David Robinson beating Shaq and Hakeem out for the ALL NBA 95 centers.

Raja Bell making 1st All NBA last year.

Preseason polls (mostly Fantasy) having all the following above Yao or at least close to him: Bynum, Amare, Oden, Kaman, Camby, Gasol, and Curry.

Even though, no one above averages at least 20 points, 10 rebs, and 2 blks per game or is the focal point of the teams offense, maybe with the exception of Amare everyone else is second tier player.....but if you listen to talking heads Yao is not really an all-star player or is pretty much second banana/

The same media that is notorious for crowning people before they even get to the championship or even to playoffs.

LeBron is a freaking man-child-beast creature! I think he eats more than what Durant weighs for lunch! :D

How could you "hate" Durant? What has he done to you?
