makes sense now even if you start off sending it to 8000 people and go 50/50 each one after like 3-4 times you have around 500 potential people willing to buy in. havent seen that one before myself like that
That's pretty smart, but are there really that many people who even pay attention to text/calls/emails from people they don't know? I sure don't.
Well, think about it.. you get an 'erroneous' text from someone, and it says something liek Hey Marty, just wanted to let you know, my new system is up and running, going to see how it works on opening weekend, here is what it predicts: and then goes on to predict a handful of games. You would read it, and probably not think anything else about it. But for some of the people, those predictions are going to be 100% accurate. And then next week, the same guy sends the text again, this time with a 'Wow, that worked really well, let's see what it does in Week 2: and makes a handful of new predictions. And for those people for whom the predictions are wrong, they never get another text, and all is forgotten. But again, some people are going to receive totally accurate predictions. Now, it starts to tick in the back of your mind. "Let's see what he says next week.' text comes again, same thing, most wrong, some right. Ok, now, if your number has been one of the 'lucky' ones, now you starting to get interested. On a lark, you may lay $20 somewhere. Some people are going to win some money, and probably a couple of weeks in a row at least, it's all just percentages. Say half the season goes by, and now the 'lucky' numbered people are going nuts. But the next text says something like 'Holy Crap, this thing is amazing! Send me an email, we're gonna be rich!' And then the person has to decide, when they contact the person through email, and is 'discovered' to have been receiving 'erroneous' texts.. they tell me it is going to cost me $100, or $500, to get the next set of picks.. do I do it? Some will, and some will STILL win. Now you are getting into the range where people start thinking about trying to drop some big money, and being willing to pay some big bucks.. It's how people end up ruining their lives gambling. So, to answer your question, for those types of people, sure, there are plenty of people who are willing to fall for such a thing. Now, the better you are at making these predictions, better your returns are going to be. But it's still just like roulette, it's just random chance every time. But with enough numbers, SOMEONE is going to win, even if it is a scam.
There was a Square One TV Mathnet episode that portrayed this exact scam. SQ1TV was awesome. Probably my favorite educational program ever.
