I've been to the zoo, and the separate wild animal park. I really enjoyed them both very much. I would try and do one on one day(a long one), and the other the next day. If I was only going to do one, I would actually do the wild animal park.

Try and time it so that you see some of the presentations such as the Gorilla feeding, or things like that. You will get to see the animals more active than you might otherwise. They will have a schedule that lists when the shows and presentations are.

Also if you go to a show it will be a good time sit and rest your feet for a little bit.

Ya, when I went in 2000 it wasn't 34! They have panada and white tigers! Don't try to piss off the tigers though. :D

Off-topic, but related: I'm organizing a short family vacation to New Orleans in March. Is the Audabon Zoo worth the time?

Half an hour is what we had to wait, but the cub was very cute, do they have another cub this year?

Spent the weekend in San Diego and visited both Sea World and the zoo. Sea World was far more fun. The shows they offer are great. While the fee to get inside Sea World seems high ($59.00), you receive a "fun card" that allows you free admission for the rest of 2008 with the exception of a few blackout dates. The only thing you pay for on repeat trips is the parking fee ($10.00). The weather was great.

The zoo was not as big as I expected it to be. It blows any other zoo I've been to out of the water, but it still didn't seem like it was worth the money ($34.00). The line to see the panda was very, very long and the park itself was pretty crowded. It only took four hours to walk the whole zoo.

I also went to Belmont Park and walked along the boardwalk. Many, many women in bikinis in mid-60 degree weather. I was surprised to see that considering it felt chilly. Let's just say you could tell the girls were cold as well. Plenty of food choices along the boardwalk and it's not as expensive as you might think considering that San Diego is always alluded to as a very expensive city to live in.

Overall, it was a very nice weekend other than being stuck in traffic along I-15 North on the way back to Vegas. There was a very bad accident and it was bumper-to-bumper traffic for just over an hour. Considering I hadn't experienced much traffic since leaving Houston, it really seemed longer than I guess it normally would have.

If you haven't been and you get a chance, I highly recommend spending at least a weekend in San Diego and visiting the local attractions. I just wish I could have stayed a little longer.
