fastboot oem-unlock Phone hasn't even been in my possession for 15 hours and I've already unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone, and flashed the proper LTE clockwork mod recovery If you plan on rooting this phone, and need assistance, let me know and I'll be happy to help. Please be careful when flashing the LTErecovery There is a certain file that needs to be deleted or the stock recovery will overwrite clockwork recovery everytime
Im not very teck savvy..could you explain in a simple concise way what this bootloader and rooting is?
Gonna go hold it at the store then probably buy this beast! It's pretty awesome that the extended battery barely increases the size. I made my brothers iPhone4 browser crash trying to multi-task, so I think I need this. Only other option I have is to wait to see what's at CES. (LTE Nokia Windows phone).
The more I play with this phone the more I love it. I haven't had it at full charge, but the battery does seem to go down fairly quickly. I picked up an extended battery with charging kit for $39.99 instead of the extended at $69.99. Fantastic device, there are minor imperfections here and there. Most are correctible and negligible, however.
Question to any of the android experts in here... I rooted my phone today. (It's an old HTC Hero) I'm trying to find the free version of the ROM manager so that I can load the recovery screen to do a Nandroid backup, and then potentially upgrade to Gingerbread (yes, my phone sucks). Problem is, I can't find the free version of the ROM manager anymore. Can anyone help me out? I just get the red exclamation point when I try to load the recovery screen. I end up having to take the battery out. I've googled around, and I think I'm too much of a non-technical nerd to understand instructions I've seen and/or they all are wanting me to have ROM manager.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en Does it allow you to download it to your phone from the web interface? If not, let me know and I'll upload the .apk of Rom Manager and you can sideload it. if you have ADB and fastboot experience you can fastboot-windows.exe devices cd/ fastboot-windows.exe flash recovery yourrecoveryimagegoeshere.IMG fastboot-windows.exe reboot (Assuming this is on Windows)
Sorry for the triple posting, I can't edit. Be very careful when downloading and flashing the recovery in Rom Manager. Do not download over Sprint 3g. I would hate for the MD5sum to be a mismatch for you.
Not sure what this means? Sorry, I'm kind of a non-techie wannabe... I usually get Sprint 3g, so I will not download until I know what we're talking about. Thanks for the posts, though.
Google wallet is working perfectly now! Even for non-root users. All you have to do is download the .apk . Its on front page of http://droid-life.com Free $10. Accepted anywhere they accept mastercard paypass
Thanks for the link. I have Wallet installed now. Know of any good places in Houston other than CVS that I can use it at?
I just tried it at cvs. The cashier was amazed lol . I tries at jack in the box via the drive thru but it disnt work. It might have been their terminal though. Theres a paypass mastercard locator app that you can use to see.
I've read the LTE Galaxy Nexus gets horrible battery life. So I'm going for the GSM version and getting on one of TMobile's month-to-month plans.
there's a kernel issue going on. I think I figured some of it out AudioOut_1 < is a culprit I think so that is causing the phone to not sleep. Also, I have 4.0.3 radio leak from Verizon's new OTA. New radio is beast. (Visual mapping issue , there was never really a signal issue to begin with )
Anyone dump the RAZR for this phone? I have the RAZR right now and will likely keep it for its insanely thin pocket profile. NFC doesn't seem to be a plus for my paranoid ass.
The Razr is still a solid device, plus its getting ICS in the next month or two. The deal breaker for me is that it didn't have a removable battery, for me its convenient to have a removable battery, especially if your a traveler and just don't have access to a charger in a full day. As far as battery life, its A LOT better than the Droid Charge. I can get a full day out of it with good use and don't have to reach out for my charger with moderate use. Even when fully charged, before going to sleep, then waking up, I still have more than 75% and thats with Wifi on.
