Again, let me reiterate: you can get the GSM/HSPA+ version used in Europe right now that will work 100% fine on AT&T/T-Mobile, you just won't get it subsidized on a contract.

I know because I have one on T-Mobile. Here's a screenshot of my lock screen right now; notice the H (HSPA+, aka 4G for T-Mobile) and the T-Mobile? Yeah, it works fine.

The phone cost me $750 straight up. The alternative was switching to Verizon and getting it today, but my total monthly bill would've gone up by $20/mo for a $299 subsidized phone. Over a 2-year contract, total additional cost would be $779 and that's if I immediately switched back to T-Mobile (which I wouldn't be able to do since I have an LTE phone). To me, paying the $750 was worth it if I don't want to wait months, plus I got it before anyone on Verizon.

Of course you can get an unlocked phone. Sorry but most people don't have nearly a thousand dollars to drop on a phone. I'll never buy an unsubsidized device and I imagine a lot of people are like me. Including the gentleman I was talking to. The question wasn't whether or not he could import a phone, it was "will this device come to tmo or AT&T" and I am fairly certain it's because he wants the device subsidized.

Sorry I haven't posted yet, I've been too busy playing with my Gnex.

I was the first person in line at my local store lol. $678.71 off contract (worth it IMO)

First off, upon activating the phone you will be prompted to update to 4.0.2

    - Hotspot doesn't work out of box unfortunately.
    - Both Verizon apps can be permanently disabled and will not run as a system service after doing so
    - LTE radio appears very strong, I haven't switched to 3G yet in this concrete building.
    - Speaker isn't as quiet as other people (mainly GSM users) claim to be

Decent little pair of Samsung earbuds are included in the packaging :)

I think I'm in love...

bought the extended battery and it adds minimal size to the phone. minimal as in the stock battery cover still fits on top of it.

just wanted to add that icecream sandwich has made my journey from webos much more bearable. the card ripoff makes for a smoother operation. ;)

a sacrifice was made with the screen and cam coming from the htc rezound. the camera on the rezound is really (i mean really) amazing. did i say the camera on the rezound was amazing? the detail on a lot of the shots i took was better than this nexus and my partner's iphone 4s. as far as the screen is concerned the clarity on the screen is better on the rezound. the whites are whiter. the blacks are blacker on the nexus and the colors pop more, but the pixelpeople will notice. design on the rezound was nice, but a tad clunky. power and volume buttons were mushy if i was every able to press them (then were level with the body of the phone) and htc still has a problem with light bleeding from bottom edge of the phone and capacitive buttons. lastly, i had the headphone problem that A LOT of users of the rezound had. who knows when htc would have fixed it.

just being honest. :) overall, i just dig stock (no bloat), the lack of capacitive buttons, ics, and frequent updates.

Nice little overview on the device.
I'm sure you already know this but Matias Duarte who designed webOS, designed ICS so that's where the cards rip off comes from

Btw, Netflix just got updated to support ICS :p

I might root the phone tonight, Google released the necessary fastboot files in case you permabrick the phone.

Do y'all know if there's a way to cancel my contract with T-Mobile without paying the Early Termination Fee? I used my upgrade in June, so I have a year and a half left, which should cost $200 to terminate.

That's what it says on their website (I've considered switching for this phone too).

I know right, I thought it'd be like $350 or something. I'm going off of what I read here, part 3. It says effective 7/24/11.

No contact integration yet, word is that facebook has yet to update their protocol to allow ICS to integrate and they are working on it. It sucks but thats what we get for being early adopters

Any long-time iPhone users make the switch?

Would love to hear from any long-time iPhone users.... How does it compare (interface, ease of use, sync-ability with macs)? Thanks!

very easy to hold. not as wide as the razr. i'm using the extended batt on it and the stock back cover still fits on top. it is indeed a bigarse phone though (length anyway). thin as other competitive smartphones out there.
