Rockets scouts were watching his game this past week. He is a 6'7" power forward. He plays for the Stampede of the CBA. The game that was watched by the Rockets scouts.....he put up 24 points and had 19 rebounds. The only downfall surrounding him is that he had major knee surgery 2 yrs. back, but if he can be gotten for a reasonable rate why not give him a shot! We do an extra spot open due the 2 for 1 trade.
absolutely...this guy was a beast at USC...although a bit undersized, he played with a lot of heart and basically manhandled his opponents. If the surgery didn't take too much out of him, I think he's definitely worth a shot.
A very poor man's Marcus Fizer - a good college player, and I'm sure he would tear up developmental league (although I doubt on a consistent basis), but he probably doesn't do much in the NBA - I'd take Weatherspoon over him.
The biggest downfall is that he is short for a power foward. You usually don't want your 2 taller than your 4.
Didn't you (or someone else) post this exact same thread a week or two ago?? Clancy isn't much different than what the Rockets already have at PF, save for less talent but more work ethic. He's end-of-the-bench filler and not likely to make any impact.
James Thomas or Sam Clancy, anyone that will work over our PFs in practice and provide some toughness when called upon. DD
Toraye Braggs, Alton Ford, Charles Oakley.... Unless these guys are going to be any different, I don't see the point.
