Guy has hit 89/159 3s this year, nation leading 56%. This is despite every team trying to lock him down as first defensive priority, and routinly goes out to 25 feet to get looks.

Don't seeing him doing much else in the NBA, but there are places for deadeyes off the bench. Another former UA small guard who was a similar deadeye--hit like 58% 3s his senior year, had a decent pro career too (Steve Kerr).

For the right team (who just needs a shooter to make doubles of guys like Shaq, Yao, TD, or Tmac pay), he could contribute off the bench. But probably our 1st is probably too soon to pick him (unless we end up with like the 26th pick), but if he is aroud for the 2nd I take him no brainer. But I think he would be gone unless we at least had a very early 2nd (picked up via trade).

Salim has been tearing it up all season in the Pac-10 he has by far one of the sweetest shots I've ever seen. He is going to make his mark in the tourney this year. Its a shame that his stock will probably rise too high for us to select him now. I would love to have Salim on this team if he can be had in the late first round. This guy will thrive off of the doubles on Yao and McGrady. Barry/James/Wesley are doing great for us right now but we need to bring in a young gun shooter for the future and Salim could be that man.

Salim doesn't strike me as a spot up shooter type of dead-eye. And he has only average over 2 assists per game once in his 4 years, which is pretty weak considering how much the ball is in his hands and he # of minutes he plays.

NBAdraft.net, which is by no means accurate, has him going 25th. At 6-1, what he has going for him is a good handle, above average athleticism and the ability to score.

He will need to show that he can be a playmaker in other ways to go higher, especially considering there are a number of scorers in the NBA who are bigger and bring other qualities to the game.

this past year he has been crazy in the pac-10. i watch a lot of pac-10 ball and the guy is a great shooter, he can penetrate but not as good as a nate robinson or chris paul. as for spot up he can do that deadly. he maybe as good as reddick when it comes to shooting, he can catch and shoot, take his man off the dribble and shoot or pull up in transition.

also mustafa shakur has been more of the pg this season and last year iguodala. stoudamire is a guard but more of a 2guard than pg catch him during the ncaa tourney and see for yourself

I live in Seattle, am a Washington alum, and watch Pac-10 ball all the time. Salim will not be a contributer in the NBA on the level people expect. He is slow, has no handles, and shoots his team right out of games at times. NBA coaches will not put up with his shot selection and he does not have the skills to create his own attempts. I think Hassan Adams is the best player on that team NBA wise, Frye is too soft.

Though I agree with your Frye take, he is too soft (and has slow reactions), but no offense, but you sure seems like you didn't watch the games closely on your other observations about the Arizona team (or have a grudge with Stoudemire). Stoudamire was the only guy Washington andother Pac-10 teams could not answer for and to out perform his Huskie counterparts (Frye at best held his own against guys 3-4 inches shorter). The Huskies had 3 or more guys like Hassan Adams except they can shoot better, have better handles and are better passers.

Stoudemire shot over 50% from the 3 lines and over 50% from the field and about 90% from the foul line. Arizona had more problems when he was not shooting enough early in the season, Lute Olsen had to beg Stoudemire to be more assertive and shoot more this season because no one else was close to his shooting ability, and Arizona started to play better when he did.

He is hands down the best shooter in college basketball. Reddick would have had to hit like 70 three pointers in a row to match Stoudemire. And remember Stoudemire is the only good 3 point shooter on Arizona, unlike Duke, so teams were focusing their defense on stopping him and still couldn't.

But after all he is a 6'1 shooting guard with above average athleticism for college but at best average athleticm and quickness as a pro guard. Because of this no one "expects" him to be a great pro player. Like Juan Dixon IMO he is destined to be an NBA tweener, but there can be valuable bench roles for guys like that. Someone will take him in the 1st round, he recent performance has all but assured that.

stoudamire was clutch today in the game against oklahoma state. drove hard for a layup and then hits 2 3s a ft and then the game winning jumper from 16ft out over 2 guys with 2.8 secs left.

this guy is legit not a true penetrate and dish playmaker but he has decent vision. i think he can totally be a great addition to the rockets if he falls that far after the games he has been having. his defense is suspect though, but he is quick and i think jvg can work on salim on defense. his dead eye shooting would be a huge + for this team as most of our more reliable shooters, wesley and barry, are only going to be around a few more years

The brutality of that Zona collapse down the stretch was only exceeded by that play at the end. 10 seconds, and that's all they could get?

This guy doesn't have what it takes to make it in the NBA. He's your classic "great college tweener guard who can never find a position in the pros" player.

why in the hell would you not go to salim there at the end? shakur to adams to terrible shot? he could've handed it to stoudamire right at the end but chose that shot.

not that i'm not happy because i have the illini winning it all and this would've pretty much destroyed any bracket i had left but still confusing why stoudamire is on the side doing nothing while you waste the first 10 seconds.

and damn what a comeback. 3's raining in, a great steal after they very smartly waited for salim to give it up on the double so they could foul a lesser foul shooter but instead stole it clean, and then an even better steal on the inbounds. then brown almost throws it away but someone from illinois makes the great block to force OT.

awesome day of basketball, with both teams i wanted to win coming back from huge deficits.

He'll get drafted for sure, but I don't think he's going to be more than a bench player in the NBA. Think Eddie House.
