Shamsports.com, one of the more accurate salary websites has recently finished updating. What do you guys think about the Rockets' current contracts? Are there any feasible moves that would improve us? (backup center, efficient scorer who can play off the ball, upgrade at 4, depth at 1)

Tracy McGrady: Signed and traded by Toronto to Orlando to a 7 year, $93 million contract in August 2000. Signed a three year, $63,380,622 million extension in July 2004. Here's the thing I don't get - the contract he signed in 2000 paid $16,901,500 in the final year. The three year extension he signed in 2004 was the maximum he could possibly get - it started at $19,014,187, which is 112.5% of $16,901,500 (note of course that in 2004, we were under a different CBA, when 12.5% raises were the maximim for full Bird rights players). Now why the hell has it suddenly dropped in value to these new figures? I have absolutely no idea. The difference between these new extension numbers and the old ones is a combined $4,533,222, a figure which appears to have no relevenace to anything whatsoever. So do you know why this change has occurred? DO YOU????? No. Me neither. Note to all - don't start your own NBA salary page. It's so ****ing boring.

Yao Ming: Drafted 1st overall in 2002. Signed to rookie salary scale contract for that year. Signed a maximum value five year extension to this in September 2005.

Shane Battier: Drafted 6th overall in 2001. Signed to rookie salary scale contract for that year. Signed a 6 year, $36,772,500 extension in July 2004.

Mike James: Signed a 4 year, contract at the value of the full Mid Level Exception ($23,363,200) in July 2006. Had a bit of a trade kicker in it that kicked in after his trade to Houston.

Rafer Alston: Signed a six year, $26.25 million contract with Toronto in August 2004.

Luis Scola: Signed a 3 year, $9,450,000 million contract in July 2007.

Steve Francis: Signed a 2 year contract starting at $2,439,333 (what was left of Houston's MLE) in July 2007.

Kirk Snyder: Drafted 16th overall in 2004. Signed to rookie salary scale contract for that year.

Jackie Butler: Signed a 3 year, $7 and a bit million (remainder of the MLE from the Elson signing in the first year, i.e. $2.2 million, with maximum raises) offer sheet in July 2006. New York did not match. Waived in October 2007.

Bonzi Wells: Signed to a 2 year contract in October 2006 that paid what was left of Houston's MLE in the first year ($2,115,000), and a maximum 8% raise in year two, with a player option on year two.

Chuck Hayes: Re-signed to a 4 year contract starting at $1.75 million in August 2007.

Justin Reed: Re-signed to a 3 year contract starting at $1.3 million in August 2006. Had a bit of a trade kicker in it that kicked in after his trade to Houston and made the second year go all funny like. Waived in October 2007.

Luther Head: Drafted 24th overall in 2005. Signed to rookie salary scale contract for that year.

Bob Sura: Signed a four year, $15.3 million contract in August 2004. $1 million of final year guaranteed only. Waived in October 2007.

Aaron Brooks: Drafted 26th overall in 2007. Signed to rookie salary scale contract for that year.

Dikembe Mutombo: Re-signed to a one year minimum salary contract in October 2007. McInnis is actually being paid $1,219,590, the minimum salary for a ten or more year veteran, but as his minimum salary contract is only for one year and he has more than three years of experience, the team is only billed an amount equal to the minimum salary of a two year vet. The league pays the rest.

Steve Novak: Signed to a three year minimum salary contract in July 2006. First year is slightly more than the minimum.

John Lucas III: Signed to a three year minimum salary contract in July 2006. First year is slightly more than the minimum. $0.5 million of second year guaranteed only. Waived in October 2007.

Carl Landry: Signed to a one year minimum salary contract in October 2007. Don't know the guaranteed amount.

Mike Harris: Signed an unguaranteed two year minimum salary contract in July 2007. $50,000 guaranteed. Waived in October.

except for it's incorrect on Landry's and Francis' contracts.

there are inaccuracies on one of the two sites...

tmac's and rafer's are different.

2010 is the year. Big shake up will happen that year. I think Yao is a lock to be re-upped. Rafer is gonner then. Tmac, dont think we will sign or extend him to the max again. Battier probably MLE re-up. Mike James long gone. Hope that Landry, Brooks will be studs then.

LeBron and D Wade can opt out that summer and become unrestricted free agents. Would be nice to have some cap room then to go shopping.

i thought we have YAO longer than that...i think if we don't start winning by then meaning get pass first round..or championship..i think yao will move on to another team
