could you please go home? just once, be a little gracious. this is a great day for iraq, the iraqi people, and the american effort to bring democracy to iraq.
I fail to see what's accomplished. In my heart, I will never be 100% convinced that Saddam was, in fact, captured. I'm about 90% there, but not 100%. I also don't believe that many Iraqis are believing it. It's very well documented that Saddam has between 3 and 7 lookalikes. Who knows if this is one of them? Why the hell is he so quiet and why the hell does he look relieved? I don't think anything has changed. This has accomplished NOTHING. Show me weapons of mass destruction - Saddam wasn't going to wreak any havoc from that hole. They did a DNA test. And he looks relieved because, all the years of being a dictator probably taught him not to show any weakness. As for what this accomplished, taking down a crazy dictator is ALWAYS good. Especially one who works with terrorists. Like I said before, I don't care whether they had weapons of mass destruction, though he did have nerve gas and the like, this is a way to free a country. People might find this hard to believe, but the Iraqi people were never going to move on until they were sure Saddam was dead, or captured, and never coming back.
Just for the record, I thought Sadam was a bad guy, back when Bush I and Rumsfeld were selling Sadam weapons even though he was gassing and torturing people. Other countries, like France, were selling Hussein weapons. So lets use your logic glynch, the U.S. backs off and stops selling Hussein weapons, assuming they were. He would STILL be killing people from the weapons he got from Russia/Soviet Union, France, and other countries. Would that justify the U.S. going in and doing something, or would you blame the U.S. for something else?
World reaction in quotes Spokeswoman for French President Jacques Chirac The president is delighted at the arrest of Saddam Hussein. This is a major event which should strongly contribute to the democratisation and the stabilisation of Iraq, and allow the Iraqis to once more be masters of their destiny in a sovereign Iraq. German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, in a message to US President George W Bush It's with great delight that I learned of Saddam Hussein's capture. I congratulate you on this successful operation. Saddam Hussein caused horrible suffering to his people and the region. I hope the capture will help the international community's effort to rebuild and stabilise Iraq.
Even with how I feel about this war, this is a very good day for Iraq! Hopefully Saddam's capture will be the first step in Peace finally coming to the Iraqi people and our troops a little closer to coming home!
This is great news. Hopefully Iraq will calm down now. Imagine the security at his trial. This will be bigger than OJ.
It's a milestone in the war. (mission accomplished pt. 2) But, now what? Hopefully, hopefully Iraqi resistance will fade quickly and we can begin the reconstruction with renewed purpose, zeal, and cooperation. I really hope people stay off of the political soapbox about this. To me it was just a matter of time, and Saddam's capture is not a great leap in national security, rather, just a leap in Iraqi culture and history. Now unless we can capitalize on this and make Iraq a stable, liveable, sovreign country again.. it won't mean much to the Iraqis..
Originally posted by glynch ... Sadam, like many of the other brutal dictators we have supported and still support around the world is a bad guy who should be imprisoned for life for his many crimes. ... Tnen rejoice in his capture. However, this is no justification for the thousands of inncocents the war killed. ... That's your opinion. Only time will tell whether this war benefits the Iraqis as much as the American or French revolutions (when many people also died) benefitted those peoples.

I hope the majority of Iraqis think so. At least the majority of Americans and British do.... I really hope so but won't count on it.
how did they have the DNA of the real saddam hussein in the first place? i'm guessing they compare it with his 2 sons that were killed?
Outstanding news!!!! Regardless of why we went into war and whether or not this administration misled the American people and our allies abroad, a murderous, ruthless dictator in custody is always a good thing.
Did y'all see that guy in the black bubble jacket dancing in the streets throwing his arms up in the air? That was some funny stuff.
