    Great news! :)

One down, one to go. Hopefully, Bin Laden will be next.

Definitely a big enough reason to take a break from not posting!

The Washington Post newspaper had live video feed on their web site.

Side note: I was impressed by the two panel wall TV's the coalition uses for news conferences. Aren't those like 10-20K each?

I love the dudes in the conference who went ape when they saw Saddam being given a checkup. I thought they were going to throw their cameras at the monitors. :D

    Great day indeed.

Now I can go to sleep...

Those spontaneous, out-of-control shout-downs by those Iraqi journalists brought tears to my eyes. I loved the way some of them apologized for their "behavior" later when they asked questions.

I wonder what impact this rather cowardly demise of Saddam will have on the insurgents. His sons go out in a blaze of gunfire while Saddam crawls out of a hole being talkative and cooperative.

ABC just said those guys were chanting "Death to Saddam." and something else that I didn't hear.

You could even hear some people cheering in the background as they were giving the briefing.

I wonder what was going through Saddam's head when they pulled him out of his little hole in the ground.:D

Still doesn't excuse this unnecessary war that the neocons conned us into with their lies.

This does not change the fact that Bush's war has made us less safe from terrorism. Once we invaded Iraq, Sadam was then trying his best to attack Americans, so to that extent at least our troops in Iraq should be safer.

That being said. This doesn't bring back the thousands of innocents killed, both Americans and Iraqis. Of course the deaths of those innocents has just added to the tragedy of the lives lost on 9/11.

It should be interested to see how this effects US efforts to make the Iraqis do the will of the neocons. Also interesting to see what effect this has on the Iraqis as they resist the neocon plans for the oil and their lives.

Geez Glynch. You seem almost mad that we captured Saddam.

Lighten up on the rhetoric and be happy that Saddam can no longer hurt any more Iraqis or Americans.

OH GRINCH, TELL THAT TO THE CELEBRATING IRAQIS...

    AREN'T YOU CONTRADICTING YOURSELF?

WE ALSO SAVED A LOT OF INNOCENT LIVES.

Exactly what I was thinking, kind of sad.

Just one question, does anyone have a link to the videos in media player format? Don't want to download this Real Player crap.

    Thanks.

What great news to start a Sunday!!

Excellent work by the multi-national coalition in Iraq to capture one of history's most opressive tyrants. This should really help the rebuilding effort in Iraq.

What makes me sad about Sadam's capture is that I feal this will be used by Bush and his supporters to try to justify the lies that got us into this war, that has made Americans less safe throughout the world. I'm afraid the Bush guys will use any new support the capture might generate to try to invade Iran or Syria, which we know is on the agenda of some of the neocons who guide Bush.

Sadam, like many of the other brutal dictators we have supported and still support around the world is a bad guy who should be imprisoned for life for his many crimes. However, this is no justification for the thousands of inncocents the war killed.

Just for the record, I thought Sadam was a bad guy, back when Bush I and Rumsfeld were selling Sadam weapons even though he was gassing and torturing people.

I fail to see what's accomplished.

In my heart, I will never be 100% convinced that Saddam was, in fact, captured. I'm about 90% there, but not 100%. I also don't believe that many Iraqis are believing it.

It's very well documented that Saddam has between 3 and 7 lookalikes. Who knows if this is one of them? Why the hell is he so quiet and why the hell does he look relieved?

I don't think anything has changed. This has accomplished NOTHING. Show me weapons of mass destruction - Saddam wasn't going to wreak any havoc from that hole.

Lets see, if the U.S. didn't do anything, they're at fault for letting Hussein continue to kill people. The U.S. does something and now they're at fault for the innocent people killed during war? Guess what? There were going to be innocent people killed one way or the other. If Osama bin Laden is still alive I hope he's watching, because he's next!
