Batman Jones, My viewpoint of a <i>realist</i> is evidently different than yours. If he was a <i>realist</i>, he would have taken a better <i>deal</i> in December 2002 than what he will be able to get in December 2003. If I go along with the <i>realist</i> scenario that you suggest, then he was expecting to keep hiding out for some indefinite time period (several years?) until the U.S. gave up and he would pop back up to attempt to retake control of Iraq from the government that would be in power at that time? Saddam thoughts: 1) One could be on the run for quite some and elude the intense manhunt. 2) Come out of hiding once the pressure (search) from the U.S. ended and not be subject to capture intentions from the new government. 3) Be able to muster enough support (rally his followers) to challenge the new government and have a viable chance to return to power. The above sounds much more <i>idealistic</i> than <i>realistic</i> to me. If those weren't his intentions, then he should have taken a <i>deal</i> a year ago. In regards to the partisan course of this thread, it was already evident around 7 am (Sunday) and I believe that is prior to TJ's appearance.
I was watching MSNBC earlier today and they were reporting that U.S. troops found a document that links Baghdad with Mohammed Atta. Apparently, it proves that Saddam and IRAQ had a link to 9/11. I think with Saddam in custody we are going to find out more about how evil he really is.
I think this is a perfect example of how you are behaving just like T_J. I have not written anything even close to being partisan in this thread. You haven't bothered to read it, yet simply painted me with the same T_J brush. Hypocrite.
I am very very happy that Saddam has been captured. I hope that his capture begins to end the violence against the troops and that the people of Iraq can now move towards democracy without the threat of Saddam regaining power. I also hope that now that Saddam has been captured, the Bush Administration will use the same amount of force used in Iraq to capture or kill the real threat to our freedom....Osama bin Laden.

I thought for a moment that I should put a disclaimer about this before I typed that, figuring that some conservative would just keep saying "but you said everybody" instead of realizing that it wasn't meant to be taken in the literal sense. Perhaps I should have, since you seem so caught up on it. <b>You're studying journalism, right? We can only judge by what you say. You should either be more careful about how you say things and be prepared to stand by them or retract them without criticizing your audience. You could use a smiley if you want to soften the edge.</b> Oh really? I hear liberals compared to Bin Laden all of the time here. I hear liberals being questioned on their patriotic and moral character all of the time here. I see conservatives finding the worst possible things to crow about in every situation that benefits them. It doesn't happen just here either, and I think that's where a lot of the animosity that gets brought onto this board by some people comes from. <b>"All of the time", really?</b> You're absolutely blind if you don't see that this is a two way street. But then again, I am talking to someone who takes TJ seriously.. so I wouldn't put it past you. <b>I know it's a two-way street. The question is how many lanes are running each way.</b> If TJ were a liberal I would be embarassed that anyone would ever associate myself with him. You should feel the same way. Should being the key word there. <b>Some of T_J's tactics embarass me now. So what? Some of his tactics astound me, too. I can live with human imperfection. Why can't you? The knee-jerk reaction to toss people aside as unworthy (and gang up on them for moral support) is a sad site.
Oh, this is a helpful attitude. Did you see this RM95? Can I be Sally Rand? How about BJ and the fluffergirls?
I disagree with you on this point. The definition for "maniac" An insane person. A person who has an excessive enthusiasm or desire for something: a sports maniac. A person who acts in a wildly irresponsible way: maniacs on the highway Killing thousands of your own people seems irresponsible to me, not to mention ruthless, evil and crazy. But I digress since this is not in D&D I think it`s a great day and I hope that this will speed up the timeline of giving Iraq back to it`s people and we can focus our attention to capturing Bin Laden.
and some people say we dont need a third party... with two parties like we have now, there has to be one just for those of us who are embarrassed by the actions of both sides. SoDamn is down, that makes me happy.....lets see if we can put this much effort into catching the AntiChrist..(figuratively) Ossama Been Hidin. Then I'll really celebrate.
Dude, ENOUGH ALREADY with the Bible Code crap. Now, give me next weeks lotto numbers or go back to "not posting".
I agree with you, but I bet my left testicle that Saddam won't say a word. I bet my other testicle that this would be the only time he speaks English: "I plead the fifth." Wait... what happens if I run out of testicles?
No, I'm not studying journalism. I write for my school paper as a hobby. It's not my fault you take things too literally, I'm sure most people understand the tone and manner in which things are implied in what I say. You, obviously, are an exception.. and I get the feeling that you choose to act this way because of the subject I chose to speak of. Who says I can't live with human imperfection? Where exactly did you pull that out from? "Unworthy"? What is that in reference to? Gang up on them for moral support? What are you talking about?
Well well well! It seems as though Saddam's capture has sent the Democratic party into a tailspin! What just happened liberals? If this isn't proof that the liberals need bad things to happen in order to secure victory, then I don't know what is. Dean's camp is sent *reeling* from this news. They are DEVASTATED. Have you read the 'deanforamerica blog' lately? CHAOS AND DESPAIR. The liberals are certainly regretting their shift to the far left end of the spectrum to accommodate Dean. You just can't win a general election by appealing only to the professional protestors and upper crust Yale elite that are fueling the Dean campaign. I hate to say it liberals, but I told you so. Keep up the good work troops -- I support you 100% with no qualifying phrases or caveats.
I'm glad that we got Saddam. He deserves to face justice. I hope it brings a quicker end to the fighting in Iraq. Maybe with him out of the way, any money he was using to finance those resisting will dry up. I don't know. There were 2 car bombings today so there won't be an immediate end to the violence. I just hope we can put Iraq behind us soon, and go back to fighting the war on terrorism.

I think I'm going to start exploring this fabled ignore list option. P.S. If me attacking TJ offends you personally, I think he might be the one who has you by the gonads.
the ignore list is a great way to cut down on the clutter, but be warned..if you allow it to get out of control....you might miss good posts like I almost missed the great post quoted above by Duece Rings. I ignored him a while back for some stuff in GARM...but that post he made that bassso quoted is an example of why I should take him back off of it. Good job DueceRings...
