I really see no reason for Rybo to be in the league but to be a ball boy or the gatorade guy... while in college he had a shot *in fact he led his division believe it or not* what happened after he left college? iono maybe he lost his virginity or somethin

He signed a 2/yr contract, we're stuck with him for another year.

Not really just this year last year he signed a 2 year extension wit the 2nd year being a player option i believe... if not then hey someone clip his brake line he'll really be flying Ryan soaring into 2nd ward leaving the TC.

He's a "JVG type player" a term I hate so much. All hustle, no talent. It pains me to this day watching the defense clog the paint and forcing Rybo to make a decision of what to do with the ball on the wings. Watching him shoot wide-open bricks and getting stripped upon the first dribble was a horrible sight. No way should he be on the team now with Battier to do his job + give us an exponentially better offensive production. I think we're better off cutting him, even though we must still pay him, and sign Paul Shirley to the league minimum.

Morey must hate Rybo... For most of last year he had the lowest EFF rating in the NBA.

Ryan playing a lot of minutes would be very bad. Ryan down the end of the bench, available to come in and harrass high scoring fowards for 5 minutes a game is good. I like Ryan as an end of the bench contributer. Check back at the end of training camp and we will see who they have to cut to keep Ryan.

I agree. That way the damage in minimalized. If he is a "JVG type" of guy what does that say about the rest of our team?

Hasn't anyone heard a thing Van Gundy said about Bowen since the latter part of last season? JVG said repeatedly that unless Rybo adds something to his game, he'll have a hard time staying in the league. So, where exactly does it say that JVG loves Rybo and would never let him off the team?

Ryan Bowen makes the league minimum. The Rockets have some room under the luxury tax limit. This means if enough of the newcomers (Kelena A., Casey Jacobsen, Matt Haryasz, etc) beat Bowen out and the team needs Bowen's roster spot, Bowen is gone (either cut or in a packaged trade).

Frankly, my guess is if Bowen doesn't come to training camp with a jump shot, he won't be wearing a Rockets uniform next year.

Our beloved RyBo is probably safe as houses considering he's in Guny's pocket.

I remember he played one good game for us, pretty important one aswell.

I'm talking about game 1 of the dallas series when he did a job harrassing Nowitzki out of his pants.

He'll never bring anything in the way of offense but as an energy guy he's good value. And in my books good enough for a 12th man role on this season's roster.

JVG will be loving this team. If he doesn't take us far this year, there's no one to blame.

He has his team of talented and non-talented hustle guys. Hayes, Deke, Bowen, Head, Lucas and Battier are all hard-working mofo's. They are the annoying energy types. Yao is obviously a hard worker as well, although he cant waste his energy harrassing people.

This is a JVG team. I like it. JVG's done a great job so far, but this is his season where he defines himself.

Ryan Bowen is a great practive body. He is an energy guy. He will ruin people's lives when he's in the game. So I don't care that he has not talent because he will play against the worst players on the other team, and in those cases, he's going to come on top. Although, I can't see him getting more than 5 minutes a game. Novak, Hayes and Battier will eat his minutes up.

Man, I hope your right. I'd rather see one of the other guys have a shot this year. Of course, if Bowen shows up with a jumpshot, we'll all be stunned and amazed.

Ryan has been in the league for seven seasons now, if he really had nothing to offer there are plenty of guys willing to take his spot. There has to be a reason Rybo has lasted this long while guys like Joaquin Hawkins and Oscar Torres can't even get a camp invite.

    My theory is lockerroom snitch.

I brought up in the Red Rowdies meeting that we should make a Ryan Bowen chant just to give the man some confidence in his jumpshot, and the leader (head of promotions) said that he doesn't know if Ryan Bowen will be on the team.

In Lindy's Pro Basketball magazine it describes Ryan Bown, "Ryan Bowen hustles and can make outside shots."
