So is your criticism about his shooting percentage or about his ability to create a shot? If you have a point, by all means make it, but please refrain from spamming the forum with nonsense. This isn't First Take.
Rockets have been after Ryan Anderson for years. They finally got him. He by no means should be paid the obscene amount of money he is getting. But that is merely a philosophical notion, contradicted by the NBA financial world. Even Scrubs are commanding major contracts. Efficient Roll players like him, are getting near max money. When used appropriately, Anderson spreads the floor for the next playmakers. And he rebounds at an efficient rate, not elite but just efficient.
Well you know whats the benchmark for 20M or near max money in the open market? Batum, LMA, Blake Griffin, Paul Millsap, Crabbe, Paul George, Luol Deng, Kawhi, Irving. So sorry but the scrubs making a lot of money starts at 15M below, not at 18-20M. Anderson is the scrubbiest guy in his salary range, given his role player status and spotty health record I dont know why he received so much money.
id say allen crabbe is the "scrubbiest" guy in this range and he contributes alot more to the team than guys like deng, kanter, noah who are in this range as well
Ranking horrible rocket history free agent contracts , not considering how payroll luxary tax has gone up. 1. Ryan Anderson 2. Stromile Swift 3. Antone Carr 4. Shandon Anderson 5. Brent Price 6. Maurice Taylor 7. Mark Bryant
Because of the market. Some of those guys you quoted are still being paid under the old CBA and it will be a few years before the league contracts are smoothed. Anderson has been in the league for 9 years including this year which means he will automatically be eligible for a higher contract than a 4 year player coming off a rookie contract. I'm not the biggest fan of this signing but I understand it. Furthermore... we are like 11 games in and Anderson is down across the board except in 3 point shooting. Too small of a sample size.
What you are being paid is kinda irrelevant unless it is preventing you from obtaining a better player. We are missing the desire for a superstar to want to be here, not the lack of money, so arguing about a player's contract is kind of pointless.
Ryno is going to have to do more in order to justify that contract. He needs to become really good in at least one other area.
I doubt Morey put the team in a situation where they can't get another super star or all star next season.
Bingo. Seems nuts when this guy is making 20x to 60x your salary, but I guess we couldn't get better talent with the cap room, so ... here we are. Wish there were more Hardens or KDs to be had.
I've seen enough more dekker less Anderson. Sucks when ur rookie outplays your 80M FA signing. Everybody here is saying Anderson's 41% 3p justifies his 20M contract well Dekker's shooting 46% and he can also run a fast break, dunk on fools and has better defense than Anderson. So should we pay him 30M? Also I dont understand the reasoning about salaries dont matter, of course they do the cap is a limited resource! The more money is invested in useless crap like Anderson the less is available for potential deals and signings. If we trade Anderson right now u think anybody will accept his 20M contract for expirings? 20M for 12 pts a night on just above average shooting, thats verry expensive $ to pts ratio.
