Yeah.. but ESPN sure did poor job broadcasting game.. If he deserved the spot to be recognized, it wasn't the right place to be recognized. yeah.. but we wanted to watch rockets game.. it does not matter how great he is.. the main purpose of broadcasting was to show basketball game. I don think anybody is making personal attack toward him... we were just frustrated that we couldnt watch the game. ------------------
LaRue had no say WHATSOEVER about how his role in the broadcast was produced. He responded when the piece in his ear delivered a question. He didn't produce the show, for God's sake!!! I agree with all of you that the production was shoddy. Who needs minutes on top of minutes of split screen interviews while the game is on?! Does burying LaRue make it better? Why such cynicism? The story of his struggle to get back to the NBA is an interesting one and his well-rounded excellence makes it even more poignant. If ESPN2 thought the broadcast audience was just Rocket fans, don't you think they would have handled it differently? Ziggy, I'm glad you're so good. Can we look for you in the RMR next year?! ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. I never said I was as good as Larue, I pointed out that I wasnt! I simply said I could beat him 1on1. Its funny how some of you expend so much energy to defend him while people like me can casually bash him and watch you over react. Its a funny process. ------------------ "banging Shaq is a whole different expirience"-Pete Babcock Behold the power of quotation
Ziggy writes: "Its funny how some of you expend so much energy to defend him while people like me can casually bash him and watch you over react. Its a funny process." It's not at all tiring to defend someone worthy of admiration from those who would "casually bash" him. I'm not over-reacting; I think my reaction is appropriate, worthwhile, and true. A guy like LaRue is equally or more admirable than Hakeem, Barkley or whomever your personal NBA icon is-- in all likeliehood. Who is the fool?!!!! ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. This is the funniest thread I've ever read, LMAO. RichRocket, I'm sure LaRue is a great guy and all and you love him even more because he goes to your church, but do we really need to look at him and here him at the same time? I mean, the guy is some nobody in the world of the NBA and they would rather show him talking then a full screen view of some of the up and coming young players of the league? Give him an award for all of his accomplishments but let the fans of these teams watch the game without any interruptions. ------------------

kubli: try re-reading all of my posts. I agree that the TV production was overdone, but LaRue had nothing to do with that. He was the actor not the producer. Get it? So I don't see the point in dumping all over him. This wasn't an NBA game, this was the RMR. LaRue is a personality playing at that level and has some particular notoriety: he was a teammate of Jordan's and Duncan's for God's sake! And, by the way, this was not a feed specifically for fans of the Houston Rockets either! Damn, am I EVER sorry that I mentioned that he and I go to the same church. You guys have given that way too much importance. He's one of the good guys out there struggling to make his dream come true in the NBA. He even has a legitimate family to feed. Take that Shawn Kemp! I don't see a place for cynical crapping all over him just because you resent his being interviewed too much and with too much face time. ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. i didnt see the broadcast so i dont feel your anger with espn, but the dude's trying to make a teams roster. i'm sure he couldn't just yell out loud interview's over like our eddie griffin to darkhorse. some of you keep repeating the church thing like its a valid argument. he doesn't deserve a tv spot just because he went to rich's church? who said he did? ------------------ [This message has been edited by fba34 (edited July 30, 2001).]
Nobody said he deserved a spot because he goes to my church or any church. I simply mentioned it as a side-note-- way better than I saw so-and-so at this-or-that carwash! ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. And the #1 sign that we're in the middle of a long horrible offseason... A Rusty LaNobody thread lasts for 5 days... ------------------ This post contains no smilies, you must judge my seriousness on your own...
Let's dump Moochie and sign LaRue! He could teach all the young Rockets calculous, and provide excellent "presence" off the bench. He would provide instant, uhhhhh, playing. Yeah... ------------------ Protrolls.com! Keep the ???? alive! The ZRBucks!
