Wow...I just saw Rushmore. Has to be one of the best movies I have seen in a looooooong time. And it's so awesome how it was all filmed in H-town...and at St. John's hi skool. And I even recognized an extra from one of my classes at UT!

The funny thing is...I hated "The Royal Tennenbaums"...but I like this one. I guess I need to go see "Bottle Rocket" for the Wes Anderson tri-fecta.

Rushmore is awesome and Tenenbaums is so-so. I bought both last week when they had some special offer at Best Buy. BTW, the gym parts (wrestling scene, b-ball game, and the final act) was all filmed at my old high school NORTH SHORE!!!!! (c/o 2000)

I didn't like Rushmore very much. The class play was cool, though. I also didn't like As Good As It Gets very much either.

If you liked Rushmore you should probably like Bottle Rocket. It reminded me of the guys I hung out with when I was growing up. There was the "good" kid (me)...the "normal" kid...and then there was the instigator. It's great. :D

    Rushmore Rules!! FISHER!!!!

Magnus: "I always wanted to be in one of your feckin' plays"
Max: "I know Magnus, I know"

Rushmore is great and yes, it was filmed in Houston.

    St. John's
    Lamar H.S.
    West U/Rice area
That hotel near the museums and Mecom Fountains
    Delmar Stadium
Don's Barber Shop in the Heights on 11th
    and many other places!!

I actually get my haircut where Bert Fisher and Max worked!!! Did you know Bill Murray practically worked for free in that movie? He liked the script so much, he did it for nothing...(of course he got money after it did so well). I own the Criterion Collection DVD of Rushmore and it's got tons of extra's... really good stuff.

I just saw the Royal Tenebaums and I really liked it. I dig the whole Wes Anderson thing... I will be seeing it again, since I own the Criterion version of this movie also... I love Wes's characters, storytelling and style... I loved both movies and really want to see Bottle Rocket now!!

    "Nice nurses outfit guy"

    "These are O.R. scrubs"

    "Oh are they?"

    :)

    Classic stuff.

Anderson does great movies. Dude is from the west side and went to St. Johns. Hence they filmed alot of Rushmore at St. Johns.

Funny story - I went to my senior prom with his sister. A few years later a friend invited me to a movie screening. It was at the Anderson's house. My friend kept telling me I knew them, but couldn't recall. When I got there, his sister was like, yea colby, we went to your prom together. LOL

Now everytime I see her or her family, they poke fun at me and ask if I remember. Oh well.

I heard she is back in town, think I have blown it forever?

If you ask me, Tenebaums, Rushmore, and Bottle Rocket were all great!

I have to agree with DC Kid. I thought all the movies were terrific.

One of my favorite things about Rushmore is the young blonde kid, and the way it was written. He's young and smart but not 'cutesey percocious' like so many movies like to do with their children characters. He also wasn't trying to say all sorts of catch phrases and over using slang, which is another pitfall that strikes many movies and their younger characters.

That kid wasn't the star, but the part was very well written, and he did a great job with it.

I am obsessed with Rushmore. It plays non stop in our living room all through the day. I just walk by, see it, and sit down and watch the rest of the movie. :) ... I could litter you with quotes, but Rushmore quotes already make up for 75% of my posts.... Does anyone know whats next for Owen and Anderson???

I liked both movies a lot.

Some people told me thought The Royal Tenenbaums was funny, I didn't find it too funny, I thought it was kinda sad in a way? Just me I guess. I haven't seen Bottle Rocket, next on my long list.

Rushmore was pretty funny - I will buy both of these on DVD (another VERY long list).

Wes Anderson is my current favorite right now. There is a real humanitarian spirit underneath his films that is sorely missing from a lot of American indie filmmakers.

    Side note:

Who knows the name of the guy who composed the music for the film, and what 80's new wave/techno band the guy fronted?
