Now that we have adapted to a running transition offense, we need to develop some half court sets. I've seen the ones where Stevie or Cat penatrate off the high screen, or the Cato dunk play. But we need to develop 1-2 sets that involve everyone. Our offense is to keyed onto Steve or Cat.

i like all the running but i just think to be effective in playoffs you have to have a good post up game also and at this poitn do we have anyone on roster who can post up at all?

You guys are correct that we need a set half-court offense but the post is only 1 way to do it. Shandon Anderson and Kenny Thomas have adequadete low post moves, but they aren't enough.

Utah lives off the pick and roll. Chicago lived off the triangle. The Pacers run guys off screens. Essentially, there are hundreds of options particularly with a solid backcourt.

I expect to see more motion, more screen and rolls and double picks next year, but a lot depends on the draft and free agency. Unless we pick up a monster post player, I believe we have seen the last of the dump it in offense for a while.

I think the staples of the half court offense will end up being the pick and roll and the guard isolation sets. This is part of the reason that Rudy wants a skilled big man that can step out and shoot the 15-18 footer. Assuming this big man that the Rockets acquire has some post up ability, they may toss it into him in the post some, but nowhere near the frequency they did with Olajuwon and Barkley. I think the focus of the attack will become the guards controling the ball and the flow of the game with the big men feeding off them.

This is essentially what the Rockets did in the latter portion of last season, and they will probably add a few wrinkles to it as they add more pieces to the frontcourt.
