Just think how little armor they would have if the liberals had their way on the $87 billion vote.

tj if the liberal's had their way they would have never gone there and instead would be at home with their families preparing for christmas and shopping for trees and presents.

instead they're there without proper supplies fighting for their lives in a war that they gain nothing from.

There was an article in the Dallas Morning News a few weeks ago about the soldiers in unarmored Humvees who are having to rig up armor on them.

Anyone who knows a soldier or reservist over in Iraq and Afghanistan has heard this before, first hand. The "happy talk" coming out of Washington doesn't jibe with the e-mails and letters from troops on the ground. A close friend, whose nephew was in Iraq, came home, and is being called back, shared an e-mail from the kid about all the civilians they killed "by accident." He's (the nephew) is still having nightmares about it.

Yes, war is hell, especially when you're sent over there by an old goat like Rummy who doesn't have a single relative in the fight. Let someone else do your fighting for you, then tell them "that's war," when you won't even supply them with the tools they need.

It's Vietnam all over again, only in the desert instead of the jungle. The "flat-earthers" will eventually come around, just like they did back during 'Nam.

I think Rumsfeld might be as confused as Bush.

If the liberals had their way on that vote, we would have paid for that armor with tax receipts instead of just piling on yet more debt. The liberals just wanted to actually PAY the costs of the war instead of shunting the fiscal responsibility to another generation.

    Try again, rookie.

Nonsense. The $87 million was a blank check. Had the bill stated that specific amounts of $$$ would be spent on body armor and proper armored vehicles, liberals might have voted for it. For the President in the debates to say that Kerry stood in the way of properly outfitting the troup by voting against the $87 million bill, even though the bill passed and the troups did not get the body armor etc., is obscene.

Soldiers in combat tell the Sec. of Defense that they are scrounging in dumps to get armor for their vehicles. The Sec. of Defense responds by telling them to make do with what they have and that armor isn't necessarily their savior.

Can you imagine the ear piercing screeches from the right if this were going on in a Democratic Administration?

Instead what you will hear is a bunch of keyboard warriors make excuses for Bush and Rumsfeld and then bloviate about supporting the troops, which in their minds amounts to unquestioned support for Bush and putting a yellow ribbon sticker on their car.

I love that word. It sounds so much like what it means. I will have to try and work it into my every day conversations much more.

Absolutely great word but I never hear it used.

And if you spend some more time conversing w/ TJ you'll get plenty of practice. ;)

I rarely respond to TJ's inane posts, but this one is particularly reprehensible.

We paid enough for these Humvees to be encased in ceramic armor and a kevlar jacket ... IF the higher-ups cared enough about the lives of our soldiers. WTH do our soldiers have to search through junk piles? DOES THAT NOT DISGUST YOU?

But that's not the point, eh? It's more important to you to deflect any critcism of bush's team than to recognize a SOLVABLE problem that's costing our soldiers' their lives.

    You should feel humliated.

The Armed Forces are working on the problem. The way you liberals refuse to give the benefit of the doubt to the leadership of our military is absolutely disgusting. It's like you think that they *want* troops to die. How ridiculously naive must you be to believe this? Or partisan. One of the two.

Look, war is not perfect. Wars are not fought with zero lives lost. The Monday morning quarterbacking by the frustrated-beyond-belief anti-war left (fb-BAWL) has reached epic proportions. Our troops and their leadership are trying their best to meet the needs of our soldiers. How can ANY liberal complain about military expenditures when all your elected leaders do is vote to slash them? Zell Miller (D) articulated this for all to hear -- and his powerful words helped swing the electorate.

Why can't you liberals quit complaining about our troops and their leadership and give our leaders the benefit of the doubt for once. Why must you always assume that they have the worst intentions? These are AMERICANS you know. Americans fighting to protect your right to protest your lunatic fringe beliefs.

Just think how many more brave Americans would be alive if we didn't go to war for a lie.

Perhaps if Halliburton wasn't gouging the federal government, the humvees would have the armor they need.

Wow. All those words and there's nothing of substance to respond to.

    Go figure.
