You can't have it both ways. Until he opts out of next year's contract (or when the new year changes over after the draft), he's still under contract from last year. There's no inbetween never-neverland between when he opts out and when he becomes a free agent. You can't talk to a person under contract, and you can't talk to a free agent before free agency begins. Show me any source that describes the situation you're describing as valid. Because I'm pretty sure you'll come up empty.
Does that even work cap-wise? I'd do that trade if we could flip Vazquez for Seattle's #10. It's do-able: Seattle wants to save money and that pick is on the block. And the #10 might still net us Ronnie Brewer. MIGHT. And as for Stevenson, why not sign him with 3 million of the MLE? If nothing else, he's a decent backup 2.
When you take a superstar off the court you need a real good player to pick up the slack stevenson scored 11 ppg thats good could you imagine if we got stevenson drafted brewer and singned james we would have Alston Head Stevenson AND JHO coming off the bench thats pretty nice we would be a little weak at tha 4 but that would be OK with such a strong bench!
Take out our #8 and diener and ill do it no way we trade a guy like swift and a better pick for dooling the only contributer!
We need to wait until we know whether or not Mike James is going to sign with us before we touch the MLE.
