    Melo has had less pressure on the court, sicne he has a capable PG setting him up, and not making him be the primary handler.

    James is shouldering more of a load.

    You're not lonely here. I also take Wade over Anthony. The guy do himself justice to help the team win without hype like Anthony/LeBron treated, while Anthony is a immature player often whining for his shot attempts.

    Denver has been just as horrible as Cleveland lately and both TIED for the worst record in the league last year. Denver has a significantly better turn around in wins since Anthony arrived--they are even above .500, Cleveland is 11 games under .500 and only the only reason in playoff contention is the east is so sorry.
    So if you factor in team improvment, no quesiton Anthony gets the nod.

    Wade would be a good candidate most years, but the statistical gap between him and the other two is too great.

    Anthony deserves at least a share. Total hyprocracy if Denver makes the playoffs and it goes to Lebron based on what happened last year.

    A lot of the times I think shared awards are bad for the league.. I wasn't a big fan of co mvp in nfl etc ..

    but this is one of those things that I think the NBA would love to have shared.. it would just further pump up the career long rivalry between carmello and lebron

    Very good points Ivanyy2000 and Rocket Fan. It's made me see the decision differently now.

    I still want LeBron to get it though.

    But is is looking like Melo's team will be over 500 and probably make the playoffs in the tougher conference (they have a .5 game lead + the tiebreakers), Lebron will lead his team to neither (now down 3.5 games considering tiebreakers).

    I think still probably the award will go to Lebron, but it will reflect hypocracy based on what happened last year where the "supposed tie" was broken with whose team did better.

    well... How much improvment Denver has achieved can contibute to Anthony? ;)

    yea, the statistical gap does exist, but that's because Anthony/James take mass of shot attempts(17.8/19.0 per game)which's as possible as a rookie could get. heh, while Wade just got 13.3 pg. Anthony is a BIG ball-hog! :rolleyes:

    Anthony

    Ranks #6 in the NBA in Field Goal Attempts(1370.0) with 42.6% FG%

    James

    Ranks #4 in the NBA in Field Goal Attempts(1374.0) with (41.8%) FG%

    Check corresponding Stats of Wade

    Field Goal Attempts(735.0/13.3 FTA pg) with (46.9%) FG%

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    also, James and Anthony are both prone turnover players.
    James
    Ranks #3 in the NBA in Total Turnovers(249.0) Ranks #5 in the NBA in Turnovers Per Game(3.46)
    Ranks #9 in the NBA in Turnovers Per 48 Minutes(4.21)
    Anthony
    Ranks #4 in the NBA in Total Turnovers(237.0) Ranks #9 in the NBA in Turnovers Per Game(3.08)
    Ranks #13 in the NBA in Turnovers Per 48 Minutes(4.05)
    imo, Wade has a better year than Anthony for sure. If he were NOT injury and missed 20+ games, he would have more advantage to be ROY...
    FYI:
    Dwyane Wade Stats
    LeBron James Stats
    Carmelo Anthony Stats
    Wade has had a fine year as a rookie but there is no comparison to the other two.
    You can't discount the difference in scoring from like 21 PPG from 16 PPG as well as the other advantages. In fact Lebron beats Wade in every positive statistical category I believe, Anthony only is lower in assists and steals--relatively expected as Anthony is a forward and Wade a guard. It is also expected when you have to be more of a scoring leader and center of your offense (Lebron, Anthony) your FG% tails relative to somone with lesser scoring responsibilities.
    I am surprised you mention TOs. Wade averages .1 more TOs per game than Anthony and llike the others also leads his team in TOs. So it is not like their is drammatic difference in Wade protecting the ball than either Anthony or Lebron--they all turn the ball over a lot, not unexpected for rookies.
    One final piece, Anthony and Lebron are far and away their teams best players. Wade trails 2 of his own teammates in scoring, and may not even be his team most important newcomer, which weakens how much you can credit him as the center of the team improvment. Besides, Denver has improved more than Miami anyway, and their is no question Anthony is the centerpiece for the improvement.
    Wade is a fine rookie, all-rookie shoe in and many years would be right there in ROY consideration, but no reasonable person can give him any more than 3rd place votes this year. Just to end it simply, I seriously doubt a ROY award winner ever got outscored by another rookie, let alone two, by 5 PPG.
    Anthony is the best player on a team that is +.500 in the West, AND is numbers are nearly identical to James', he should get it.
    Biased much? You point out that Melo has 42.6% FG percentage and talk about how he's a ball hog, but you ignore the fact that LeBron has more shot attempts and a worse FG%.
    Dwyane Wade's a stud, but he's nowhere near the level of Melo and King James.
    here's how each played against the top 10 teams in the league (Dal, Det, Hou, Ind, LAL, Mem, Min, NJ, SA, Sac) so far this year:
    Carmelo: 31 games, 20.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.5 apg, 41% fg
    LeBron: 23 games, 20.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 5.7apg, 43% fg
    Hands down to Melo. They have the most improved team in the league, and he is a major reason for that.Their records are fairly good considering they are in a tough division and they have a very young team. And hopefully they are going to the playoffs for the first time in so many years.
    Melo should win the ROY, or co-ROY at least.
    "no comparison to the other two"? uhm... why?
    just because he hadn't dizzy stats as Anthony/James? Can "the difference in scoring" tell us the truth?
    just because he also commits several TOs per game equating to Anthony? he's a guard who charges the ball longer than any position including SF of cause.
    UNFAIR!
    Regarding "Anthony and Lebron are far and away their teams best players." heh... Lebron probably is, as for Anthouny, I doubt it! I bet if Jeff Bzdelik could more generous to the brazilian like how he treat to Anthony, he would have gained more than what he's got now...
    Anthony -- A native hype icon. You can't deny it.
    "Biased much?"
    Yup. your nickname tells everything;)
    btw, reread my post.
    I never "ignore LeBron has more shot attempts and a worse FG%" or even referred to it, had I? I just argued Wade would have better chance to win ROY compared with Anthony if he were NOT injured and missed 20+ games. ugh, that's certainly unpleasant to some Nuggets fans hear:D
    When you look at their stats and what they've done for their teams this year, it's gonna be tough to call the ROY race.
    I have a feeling the hype will tilt the race toward LeBron (although LeBron has proved himself worthy of the attention). Also, you can put LeBron almost anywhere on the court; well, at the 1, 2, or 3, and depending on the matchup, spot minutes at the 4 with a small lineup (a bit of a stretch, but 6'8", 240 is bigger than other PF's).
    No sense trying to argue with you comments like that. What the hell, I'll try one more time...
    My ROY
    Anothony 1a
    Lebron 1b
    Wade 3
    You can argue between the first two, you have to use incredible twisted logic to put Wade or anyone else as ROY.
    You do realize Anthony's team has a better record and more improvement than the Heat, and Anthony leads his team in scoring by a wide margin and is top 3 in about ever statistical category where Wade is 3rd on his team in scoring. If it was mainly do to Nene, Denver would not have had the worst record in the league last year. Nene's improvment and signing Dre and a few other back-up vets helped--but no question Anthony is the most important reason for Denvers improvement (same is true for Cleveland, Z being healthy, the continued development of Boozer and some other positive roster moves helped, but Lebron is the most important factor by far in their improvment). Either Denver or Cleveland would be fighting it out for the worst record in the league again without him, the same can't be said for the Heat. And further the addition of Odom--a player rejected by the Clips, may have been even more important than the arrival Wade anyway.
    Statistical argument, team imporvement arugment, being the most important player on his team--there is no contest between Melo and Wade (or Lebron and Wade). You might say Wade will be better down the line, not many will share your opinion but that is OK, but a reasonable person cannot make a claim for Wade over Melo OR Lebron for ROY.
    Please. You can keep riding Wade's jock all you want. I'm gonna ride Melo's to the playoffs. Did Melo screw your woman or something man? Good God, it's like you hate him. Kansas fan? Bitter that he eliminated your team? What's the deal?
    BTW, I've said all along that LeBron's gonna get ROY and deserves it. I don't see how the hell that's biased towards Melo. But keep trying.
    Desert Scar,
    You seems to misunderstand my point or I didn't clarify my position about James. Being a guy out of high school, LeBron had shown us his amazing athleticism & bball talent than what I'd expected before.(I don't buy the hype, and draw that conclusion from the Cavs games I've watched.) Getting those stats numbers and considering his age/team-play style/team improvement compared with last season, etc, I wouldn't be surprised if he win the sole honor without share. From beginning to the end in my posts, What I argued/focus was the compare between Wade and Anthony. I just referred to James Stats by way of parenthesis.
    Also, man, everyone has freedom to express his own opinion, right? You claim yours, while I post mine that's maybe as you said "not many will share your opinion but that is OK". You prefer Anthony, while I consider Wade had the better year than him, imo.
    You stated that I "use incredible twisted logic to put Wade [/b]or anyone else as ROY[/b]. heh... either 'incredible twisted logic' or 'anyone else as ROY'? I can't see both. Also you indicated "a reasonable person cannot make a claim for Wade over Melo OR Lebron for ROY. :eek: Give me a break.
    First, clarify my point here: I never make a claim for Wade over Lebron, but I did exactly that Wade over Melo.
    Second, your alleged "reasonable" is what...? you mean:
    1)Statistical argument
    You said "can't discount the difference in scoring from like 21 PPG to 16 PPG as well as the other advantages." Yea. I do accept it but the bottom line is what made this difference in scoring like that? I've argued in my previous posts partly. Since you've pointed them out, I have to continue... here:
    * Anthony is 1st option and major piece of Nuggets while Wade is only 3rd option in his team --you do realize that, don't you?
    * Their different status in respective team determines their different roles(one is a stud, other is not, right?) and their shoot attempts in the games(Anthony 17.8/Wade 13.3)
    * Jeff Bzdelik designed a set of particular tactics centered Anthony, while S.V.Gundy used Wade as a PG&shooter judging Heat games I've watched.
    * Wade's really talented. But injury hurts him...
    * Plus: Wade's defense needs work. But sorry to say Anthony's D sucks. In fact, Anthony completely has the ability to be an excellent defense player. But he seems more infatuated with O than D. While Wade is a guy who's most willing to devote his energy to D/O on both ways if only team need. I'm much appreciated his merit personally.
    2)team imporvement arugment
    heh, Miami(39-38), has tied for 4th place in the EC with 8-2 over the past 10 games recently. Wade has been a big momentum contributing for the winning record out of question. Yea. I know, I know... you might say: Miami is a EC team; Denver's wandering around playoffs margin in the toughest division; Nuggets is one of the most improved team this season...
    But don't forget how many new players Nuggets got last summer? 4 or 5... and how about those stuff Miami refreshed? Odom / Wade... also, Nene was still a rookie and Camby's injury which hurt Denver terribly last season, right?
    well... seems a bit off topic, back to the point.
    As to ROY racing, it will come down to James, Wade, Anthony. Put aside James, cause I believe James got the better chance than the other two for sure. I recall that Eddie Jones once said 'Wade would be included in Rookie of the Year discussions with LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony if he hadn't been so banged up.' I completely agree to it. I've certainly known the notion that Anthony is better than Wade is in the majority. But Wade definitely deserves my sopport, IMO.
    anyway, thanks for your "try one more time..." to a "No sense trying to argue with you comments like that". If you wanna try a second times, probably it's my turn to say that... ;)
    Editor's note: Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony sat down with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith to discuss his controversial decision to sit in Detroit and his suddenly sagging Rookie of the Year campaign.
    What did happen in Detroit? You refused to go into the game when the coach wanted you to go into the game. Explain to us what happened.
    Anthony: Well, first of all, I just want everybody to know that I'm a winner. You know me, I wanted to win. I've been winning all my life and to come into a situation where we lost eight out of nine games -- everybody got frustrated, I got frustrated and my frustration just took over everything. ... I just felt like everybody was against me at that time -- for four people to question my shot selection at that time, I called one play and the coach called another play, I guess everybody was confused about what to run and when I came to the bench everybody was like "When did we start running flat or when did we start running clearouts in the middle of a quarter?" Usually, clearouts or flats is for the end-of-a-quarter play.
    You go back toward the bench, Andre Miller the point guard of this team, a guy that's been in this league for years, questions your shot selection, you instantly reacted, you refused to come back in the game. How long did it take before you recognized that you were wrong about that?
    Anthony: Oh, right after the game. Right after the game, I was sitting down in the locker room like "I quitted." I never quitted a day in my life, that's not me, it just happened, it was an incident. When I was on the bus, I was just thinking to myself, "I just let my teammates down, I quit, I don't know how they're thinking about it." I couldn't sleep that night. Then the next day in the meeting, we had a team meeting and I apologized.
    Are there any players to ask for advice -- old or current players?
    Anthony: Mike.
    Michael Jordan. Did you talk to him after the incident in Detroit?
    Anthony: Yeah, I talked to him.
    What did he say to you?
    Anthony: Scottie Pippen. Scottie Pippen did it in the playoffs and (Toni) Kukoc hit the shot and they hounded Scottie about that. I don't think this is as big a deal as the Scottie Pippen case.
    Did Michael Jordan think it was as big?
    Anthony: I think so because he told me -- I mean he saw it from the outside looking in. I did it, I did the incident, it happened and I don't see it being as big a deal. But he said he read the paper, he watched the TV (and) the news and my face is on every channel out there.
    Now this is MJ now. What did he say to you? Because if he spoke to you and he was willing to tell you that, obviously he has some strong words of advice for you. What did he say?
    Anthony: Well, the first thing he told me was to never let people know how you're feeling. If you got something to say to your teammates, never take it out on the court. Go to the locker room and then get at 'em -- get what's off your chest in the locker room, don't do it on the court. Then he told me just keep my head up, just put this incident in the past which I tried to do. But the more I tried to put it in the past, the more it got blown up.
    When you think of Rookie of the Year candidates, it basically comes down to you and LeBron James. Are you concerned at all that this incident could be blown up to such a proportion that it could actually affect you capturing Rookie of the Year honors?
    Anthony: Yes, I do believe that. I was just talking to somebody the other day about it. This little incident has been blown up so big that, I mean, I guess the Rookie of the Year award is slowly going down the ocean right now.
    How cognizant are you about all the comparisons between you two guys? Is it that much of a competition in your eyes? You only play each other twice a year.
    Anthony: I mean, I don't see why it's a big deal or a big competition. People say it's a rivalry. I don't see how it's a rivalry. We only play each other twice a year. Everywhere I go, people want to say LeBron's name to me. I get tired of hearing that name to be honest with you. Deep down inside, I want to explode like, "Please, don't say that name to me anymore. I don't want to hear his name." Not taking anything away from LeBron because me and LeBron are close. On his end, I know he gets tired of hearing my name too because everywhere we go we hear it.
    Who was the first person you spoke to about it (the decision not to play) after the game once you realized that you were wrong about it? Who was the first person you reached out to?
    Anthony: Nobody. I turned my phone off. I didn't want to talk to anybody. I called my mother; she didn't answer the phone. Then I got a call from her a week later. I got a message on my answering machine and she was like, "This is your mother, call me back Mr. Controversy," and I'm like, "What's going on?" Everybody calling me saying, "You're on every channel, every newspaper" and I'm like, "Over a little incident that I apologized to my team for and thought it was over?" ... That just goes to show you that any little thing can get blown up.
