Do you think the league will give it to him? Is he clearly the favorite? Davis in Charlotte is making some noise too. Rocket River ------------------
By Davis I assume you mean Baron, who isn't a rookie. He came in with last year's pg class of Miller, Francis, and Terry. I think he was the 3rd pick overall. As far as ROY goes, my money is on Jackson. ------------------ The season's halfway over...and I still need that keg of Pepto-Bismol.
would be kinda ironic since Mark Jackson the guard was the lowest player drafted to win ROY in the 1987-88 season. [This message has been edited by outlaw (edited February 19, 2001).]
Mike Miller has been playing well of late, but Jackson is head of the class so far ------------------ When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new. This restless craving in the souls of men spurs them to climb, and to seek the mountain view. -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox
According to the official NBA encyclopedia, Marc Jackson was drafted in 1997 with the 9th pick in the second round. Anyone know why he didn't make his debut until this season? Was he in the armed forces, like David Robinson or something? ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
Marc Jackson 13 pts 5 rebs a game will probably win the ROY. What a sucky rookie class! Kenyon Martin is next at 10 and 5 . Mike Miller is next at...ahhh who cares. ------------------
What do you guys think of Darius Miles', chances? ------------------ "Ive seen more class at a Pig Humpin Contest ." -- moestavern19 makes headlines again, and in the process leaves little doubt as to what Saturday nights in his hometown of Lompoc, California are like.
Miles Has been doing hardly anything as of late , I should know i have him on my Fantasy team . Marc Jackson should win the ROY because he has proved himself a good player , not just hyped-up like a Kenyon Martin . ------------------ click here to see a legend Houston Rockets fun facts Kelvin Cato Enjoys Pretending to lead the league in rebounding and Injuring himself .
Actually, he went to Europe because it was more money ($700K vs. $200K, I think), and it was guaranteed. In any event, he may not get ROY, because he's fading pretty badly -- shooting only 41% the past 10 games. Whether he's hit the proverbial wall, or the league has adjusted to him, I don't know ... probably both. ------------------
Swopa, isn't Jackson injured right now? And are the warriors shuffling him between C and PF lately? Which is he better suited to?(I would've thought PF, but you've seen him far more ) I think he wins ROY by default - I also believe that he's gonna be a pretty good scorer/ rebounder for a few more years at least! A genuine double double threat most nights. Outlaw; I like the irony ------------------
Apparently, Jackson has a nagging groin injury that's been bothering him since training camp. Info about it is very sketchy -- he missed a game three weeks ago with a "strained left groin," then yesterday's game with a "strained right groin" (considered questionable for tomorrow's game). Right/left issues aside, I don't know why it wouldn't have healed in the first month of the season, when he hardly played. Anyway, yes, the Warriors have been switching him between C and PF, depending on who's healthy at the moment (Foyle and Hughes both have lingering injuries) and how big they want to go. He's a dreaded tweener in this regard -- too small for a starting C, but too slow for PFs (he's slow for a C, too, but at PF it's more noticeable). Long-term, I'd say he might start at PF, but most likely will be a backup C/PF (still playing 25-30 minutes per game) ... unless some team is desperate enough to pay him $7-9M/year to start at center. I do think the league has started to figure him out, but his basic skills & knowledge of the game are solid, so I agree with your assessment of his future. ------------------
Look at Fizers numbers for February---he's a brand new player. If he keeps it up he could edge up there into consideration... http://espn.go.com/nba/profiles/stats/splits/2000/3403.html ------------------
hold everything! gettinbranded has made an appearance! hhahaha fizer yah sure ROY here we come. maybe when he gest to a team where he is playing his real position. it still cracks me up how krause just drafted him to spite the magic n clippers. fizer will be a good player. ROY my ass tho. he hasnt done anything b4 february n is probably being showcased for a trade. the real thing i wanna know is why ur stubborn GM didnt trade him n jamaal "potential" crawford for jermaine "potential and ability" oneal. no way in hell fizer wins the award when his team probably couldnt beat some top ranked college teams. personally i think duke, UNC, stanford, and michigan st. could really give them a run for their money. besides miller/miles/martin/jackson r all better players this year. ------------------ --TEX
DoD, Im with you. I like Darius Miles. I dont think he stands a chance though, due to the fact he has two other rookies on his team. Marc Jackson is not THAT GOOD, but in this class.... ------------------
