Has anyone noticed that the two teams picking before the Rockets(Boston and Minnesota) are loaded at the 2/3 position. My money says they take a PG with their picks(M.Williams,Foye,Lowry). They could also go with a big man, but not likely unless someone blows them away in workouts. My biggest concern would be Toronto taking Gay or Roy.

Boston has Pierce,Wally, Tony Allen,Ryan Gomes, Al jefferson, Gerald Green, and Kendrick Perkins.

Minnesota has R.Davis, Marko Jaric, Rashad McCants, Ronald Dupree, and Trenton Hassell.

I like our chances at #8 for Roy.

if not, Sheldon ain't so bad

Since team w/o's have not yet begun and since Euro-words have all but not been spoken yet and since the Lotto has not yet been held and, oh yeah, players can still pull out and --

-- how many guys will Minny have to give to get Starbury? How serious is Colangelo about drafting foreigners? Who else is likely to be dealt? Who deals into and out of the Lottery? So --

who knows who will go when or where.

I wouldn't say that Jefferson and Perkins play the 2 or the 3. Boston is still loaded at those positions though. Minnesota are loaded, loaded with crap at the 2 and 3. I don't think Minnesota will be avoiding 2:s and 3:s in the draft.

First off, I love your name. Secondly, I wish we would trade for him.

Which could possibly mean Rudy Gay slips to #8. I think Toronto's call is going to come down to Roy vs. Gay.

Thanks, I love my name too.

Want to trade for GGreen? Take Raef for JuHo. TE + #2 = GG. Boston does it to save big bucks and gets to take a 'future' with the 32nd. Is it worth the cap issues to Rox? That is the question.

This is a great angle/point that had not come to my mind up until now.

But as you already know, trades could always happen - some team could have the hots for ROy and trade up. Things could shake up but as it stands (baring if we win one of the top top 3 spots in the lottery or at worst remain at #8) I really like our chances to land either Shelden Williams (likely won't draft him since he lack a midrange game), Rudy Gay, Brandon Roy or Andrea Bargnani.

I'd love to have Roy, but I've come to realize that it really doesn't matter who they draft. No matter who it is, it'll be an improvement over anybody we have on our roster outside of Yao and McGrady.

I really don't think Gay or Roy will be there even at 7.

I don't think so either... which makes me believe one of them will be. Even the experts never thought the mighty Hollywood God Leinhart would drop to 10 and guys get drafted ahead of expectations all the time. It's MORE inconceivable to me that the draft will go like the mocks are predicting it, which is to say the draft is only going to go 7 deep and no ones else can crack the top 7. We're sitting pretty.

    We'll likely have pick #8.

    Did I misunderstand your post?

I like that trade. Honestly, getting Raef for JuHo is a wash at worst...he can shoot the midrange and 3 and provide some shotblocking. Although GG might not be defensively good enough to start, it'd be great to have a wing player (the next T-Mac coming out of HS) to groom in the wings...

I was saying our top 7 and the mock top 7 won't be the actual top 7 when it comes draft time. We'll get one of those guys.

Our situation has and management has shown that we need better perimeter defenders and size/shooting in the backcourt. We could also use an interior player, though the draft might not be the best place for that as big men take longer to develop.

I think we should be focused on a few Players:

1.) Rudy Gay - Doubtful he falls to us at 8, unless we hit the lottery. He's a shooter, passer and has the size and rebounding we need in the wing. He's also the kind of player that will defer to Yao/McGrady and has the tools to be a great defensive and 3rd option to Yao/McGrady.

2.) Brandon Roy - at 6'6, he's a tall SG with great fundamentals. He's a great shooter, passer and strong defender. He would fit in instantly in the SG spot and play well with Yao/McGrady. The fringe teams Boston/Minn are pretty loaded at the 2/3, so he may fall to us if Toronto (Mo Pete) doesn't take him.

3.) Rodney Carney - This guy is a springboard in the Josh Howard sense and would help with out our athleticism and size in the wing. He's a good, not great shooter, but is not a good passer or cerebral player though his potential is very strong.

4.) Andrea Bargnini - This guy is supposed to be the best shooter in the draft aside from Reddick. He's 7 feet tall and can score from anywhere and doesn't mind mixing it up down low, though at his weight its not much. His handle for a big man only falls compared to Dirk and he would spread the floor playing the 3 or 4.

    BBS,

i'm the biggest Brandon Roy fan [check all of my previous posts] - but i just read that he's had problems with his knee, and that he's already had a couple surgeries on it.

given the Rockets luck the last couple years, i think the last thing we ought to do is take our chances on a great player's knees.

given this recent news about his knee, I SAY NO TO BRANDON ROY.

let's trade our #8 down and instead pick up Ronnie Brewer and Paul Millsap.

I like the idea; I've thought similar notions: you want a 4/5 who shoots from outside? Raef would be the guy, IF you can stomach the cap killer.

Doc Rivers wouldn't mind a familiar veteran on his team, I'm sure.

I don't know what would get it done; Juwan + Luther + TE + future first rounder for Raef/Gerald Green? (Too much to give up? Not enough?)

As TMac breaks down, we bring local product GG up to speed.
