JVG seems to have opened his bench more and last night they responded. Padgett played well last night and was a real spark off the bench against the Kings. Mark Jackson played a vintage MJ game and Boki added some key contributions. Do y'all think we're going to see JVG use the bench more in the playoffs? For that matter is JVG developing a lineup that have the hustle to compete against the movement and shooting of the Kings? Using Padgett, Boki and JJ to open the floor and MJ to provide steady ballhandling. Also to save time from posting another thread what do y'all think about starting MJ at 1 and Francis at 2 and using Mobley as instant offense as the 6th man? Does MJ have the gas to start in a playoff series? I'm thinking his ballhandling and veteran leadership might be what the Rox need.
im worried that whatever MJ had left in him for the playoffs, he already used it up. JJ was absolutely brilliant at the point
JVG has not done alot of tweaking of the line up this season he seems to only react to injuries Rocket River
contrasting styles ... Hubie Brown says ... "When you're a coach you're proud of tonight because we were without three key guys." JVG never misses an opportunity to slam his players however ... "This was their decision," Van Gundy said. "It's always better to play if you can play."
I really wish JVG would have used the bench more during the season but last night could have been a test run or just rest for the players. With us locked in the 7th seed we should see more of the bench on Wednesday. I really like the production from Padgett. If he, JJ and Boki can shoot like that it would really be key in the playoffs to open up the inside for Yao. More one on one play for Yao in the post and easier for Steve to drive in the lane and kick out.
I don't think JVG will open up the bench until Francis is traded for more depth(preferably white guys or ex-Knicks). Move Francis to sg and MJax to starting pg? Sure why not. It should get Francis more looks since Cat wont be there to take his shots. The rox could use a few 30 point games from him in the playoffs to drive up his trade value for the offseason. go rockets, believe.
