Don't usually like this guy, but some interesting observations and insights. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/5146464
Seems like Rosen actually took the time to observe our team for the game instead of simply spewing excrement from his posterior. I liked the detailed breakdown of Yao (albeit a little harsh).
Nice. He sees how good T-Mac really is, but he didn't really get to see Yao at his best, and he didn't mention his passing. Yeah, when I read his articles I always feel like I'm being taught, even if they're teaching me something stupid.
Interesting. Some good points, although he didn't point out Tmac played one of his best games this season on both floor, Yao didn't play up to his standards offensively.
Didn't see the game but 12 pts? I guess he didn't see Yao's offensive game, he did mention Yao's passing thought. Only guy he said anything nice about was McGrady. - Posting and getting nifty feeds from Yao, then spinning, dancing, bagging flippers, jumpers, and dunkers
Wow! A well-thought out, well-written article by Rosen? Armageddon is upon us! Seriously though, this piece made a lot of sense and was pretty decent/fair overall. That, and the mention of Yao dunking over a "midget", had me laughing But let's be serious for a moment here: doesn't Wesley have the shiniest head on the Rockets? I wonder if he takes issue with this...
He sure wasn't complimentary to Swift, overall. I still think Swift is going to ratchet up his game and really improve.
I'm as amazed as everybody else that Rosen wrote a pretty good article. Insightful, and pretty fair to all the players. What happened to the "The Rox are pu**ies" articles he used to write? The dude must be bipolar.
He finally was able to catch a Rocket game, after he was forced by his employers to sign a contract requiring him to watch at least one game a season for every team he decides to critique. This, of course, was a result of thousands of threatening e-mails sent to Fox sports, which again goes to show the power of Clutchfans.
it was nice for him to have watched a rockets game, but what is up with this guy's constant negativity. if mcgrady didn't shoot lights out, affect the game in every facet including shutting down paul pierce, he'd be hating on him too. 1-is he implying that yao gets the benefit of the calls from refs???? "He did set several effective screens — and only three of them were illegal. But during his entire NBA career, refs have always been hesitant to whistle Yao for moving screens." 2-"But unlike BB, the Rockets' Bowen can't hit a jump shot to save his life." i didn't know bruce bowen could hit a jumper (aside from that one corner on the 3pt line).
Objectively speaking, he points out the same things I've seen from this year's edition of the Rockets. I feel that he's especially dead on about Yao's slowness and passivity. His observations on TMac hit the nail on the head because I have felt the same way ever since last year's playoffs against Dallas when TMac was asked to (1) play the point (2) carry the offensive load and (3) guard Nowitzski. He has to do these things in order for the Rockets to have a chance at winning because of the poor supporting cast on this team and, to me, is an unreasonable state of events because that's simply too much to ask of him on a nightly basis. Other coaches watch film also. That's why Yao is getting buried with fronting defenses and teams are concentrating their defenses on Yao & TMac while ignoring our guards & forwards. The team weaknesses that were exploited by the Mavericks have not been addressed in the offseason and are there for all to see. It will be interesting to see what happens on the upcoming road trip when the Rockets play against teams that don't even pretend to have centers and play the type of "small ball" that gives this team fits.
