I think Live's prediction of Griffin's stats are going to be the most accurate.

I think Shane Battier will win ROY, because he will get a lot more PT that Eddie Griffin on that sorry team. I think part of the reason Vancover gutted their team is so they can tank next year. If their pick is in the top five, they don't have to give it to Detroit.

i just love kwame brown. not only is he a terrific player, he is the most mature- sounding high schooler i've heard yet in the nba. i mean, he speaks accurately and pointedly on substantive social topics. just love this kid. hands down the best rookie.

he could be the next hakeem. seriously.

I agree with Live. I also believe that ROY is between Griffin, Battier, and White.

    Why?

Griffin - because of his raw talent; could put up big numbers IF certain things fall his way

Battier - because he is the most ready for the NBA; he also will be the best player on the Grizzlies at attacking the zone

White - I can definitely see him winning ROY; will get plenty of shots in Detroit, where Stackhouse is the only other player that is even ALLOWED to shoot

My All-Rookie Team (positions generally don't count on these teams):

    Eddie Griffin
    Shane Battier
    Rodney White
    Jason Richardson
Michael Bradley (going out on a limb)

    Rodney White

In no particular order, these are the guys who have the inside track to win ROY. It's hard to justify putting a HS player's name in with that list.

Now, the All-Rookie team is another story. I don't think the impact Eddy Curry could make should be underestimated. He has even odds at being the top rookie center next year. His competitors are Brendan Haywood, Stephen Hunter, Jason Collins and (I guess) Sagana Diop. I don't think Curry is as talented as KG or Kobe, but he may find it easier to distinguish himself as a rookie due to his position, team, conference, and lack of competition for the top rookie center spot. I doubt he will average a double-double, but he won't have to to beat out the other rookie centers. Curry could average over 10 points, and if he can hold his own on defense, he will have a good shot at being the top rookie center.

Again, while I am going out on a limb, don't count out Michael Bradley making the All-Rookie Team. If Toronto gets gutted by free agency with Antonio Davis and Jerome Williams leaving, Bradley could see big minutes. While teams focus on Carter, Bradley could get a lot of scores on open mid-range jumpers, a la Pat Garrity. Because all the other good big men are high school kids who won't get huge playing time, Bradley could be the "resident big man" on the Rookie Team. I know it's a stretch, but I just want it on the record in case I actually turn out to be right.

Well for 1 thing I dont think their will ever be another Hakeem.

I think Battier almost has the ROY rapped up already unless someone like White or Griffin comes out to play this year.

I am positive Griffin will be a really good player but Im thinking he may pull a Stromile on us.

I think 14pts 9reb 3blk 2stl is reasonable but I would be fine with him just contributing by getting 7 or 8 rebounds while playing some good hard defense.I dont really care how much he scores this season!

Two other guys that'll get consideration for rookie honors:

    Richard Jefferson and Jason Collins

Jefferson figures to play at least 24 minutes a game for the Nets- over 30 if Kittles doesn't return. 12 points, 5 rebounds as a starting SG easy.

Collins will start for the Nets at center. 10 points, 6 rebounds isn't out of the question.

Not AllStar numbers, but they'll make either first or second team rookie squads
