What do you guys expect from the rookies this year? Will they/who will make the team? How much can you expect them to contribute? How big will their role's be? This can apply to Andersen, Budinger, Taylor, or any other summer league players/signees who could be added. Discuss....
I think either Taylor or Budinger can be all nba rookie second team. One of the two should have alot of minutes due to Tmac's injury
Budinger is nba rookie 1st team IMO If he keeps working hard, guy could end up being a Bird type player with dunking ability, which would be AWESOME. If he can keep that 3pt% flowing from the Summer League, he hands down makes 1st team.
I feel Budinger is a "Morey's" type of guy he has the NUMBERS that mean alot to Morey. Percentages and production in ratio to minutes played which translate to wins. I see Taylor going to the DLeague for some improvements and to prove he's ready. Andersen (if he wins the starting job during training camp or preseason) has a good shot at turning some heads in RA's offense, he's not as slow as some think
Budinger will probably be the best of the true rookies, but I think Anderson will contribute the most only because he plays the position we are now weakest at.
Anderson can turn some heads? The guy got drafted like 6 yrs ago and has yet to turn up in the nba till now. He averged 11 points and 4 rebs a game...not in the NBA. He might get 2 boards a game!
It depends on the final roster Morey puts together...I could see both Taylor and Budinger playing for the Rio Grande Vipers...... Too early to tell, for me. DD
You guys are way too high on these rookies. Taylor probably wont play this year. I see Budinger contributing maybe 7ppg, 3rpg. Andersen is a 8ppg, 5rpg guy. If that.
If Morey signs Wafer, nothing from Budinger or Taylor. If there is no Wafer, all-rookie first team for Budinger. Budinger's offense complement Battier/Ariza. Battier and Ariza's defense complements Budinger. I can see them moving to a line up of Ariza and Budinger to start by all-star break.
NOT COMPARAING THE TWO BUT...these are Scola's Euroleague numbers the year before he became a Rox. 15.5 PPG 5.9 RPG 2.2 APG with a .573 FGA Andersen's stats on a better team last yr.. 11.7 PPG 5.7 RPG 0.9 APG with a .524 FGA JUST SAYING LOL
Lol. People here are still too high on Aaron Brooks. Hes no starting pg. Marty Leunen, Brad Newley, Steve Novak, Luther Head.
Actually rebounding numbers translate the other way around. When moving overseas to the NBA, their rebounding rate actually goes up. Players in Europe get less minutes because the games are shorter, so the starters are rested earlier. There are also fewer missed shots available for rebounds. Scola's rebounding numbers went up over 20%. I think somebody said 30%.
Note that I said if he wins the starter job... if he does that then that means he'll be doing better than he was projected. Not to mention he's RA's type of center, name one center who didn't do better under Adelman than they did with someone else. Don't look at his numbers look at what he does and can do. his percentages and skill set they work in RA's old system which they're looking to use this year. Looking at his numbers now is just r****ded.
Honestly I can easily see 10ppg and 8-9 RPG which would be gravy! All-Star nope but productive player on a possible playoff team..SURE
No one said he would be an ALL STAR just that we will get something more out of him than many doubters think.
Most posters expected him to back up Rafer as a rookie. It would have to be a rare poster that expected Brooks to start over Rafer in his rookie year. Leunen and Newley weren't expected to contribute, because they were overseas. Head actually surprised people in his rookie year, because he wasn't expected to contribute at all. He wasn't drafted by Morey though. There is a good case for too much expectations for Steve Novak, a 3pt specialist. There was a huge contingent of posters expecting the next great dead eye shooter.
