Just remember what could have happend to him if they hadn't belived in him 3 years ago.

He has come from a below average player to an AllStar

I never thought he could get to that level. I felt he would be a good backup PG at best. Great job.

He's playing angry to prove a point - was kicked off the World's team. He won't be keeping this up all season.

Really, what has made him that great? Should Pierce, KG, Allen and Doc get credit on that or it was just a big draft steal and he had that talent deep inside him.

I think nobody thought he could be that great cause right now he is great. I can definetly see him averaging 15 dimes a game. I am even wondering if he can be the MVP.

with that many options to pass to every game you have to wonder lol. When a guy can take credit for at least 58 points (if he didn't assist even one three, which I think he did) you know he's a very very special guy. Especially when he personally only scored 10 lol.

Even with a bad shot he's basically indefensible. They give him space and dare him to shoot and he drives at them like a spider monkey and puts them on their heels and get's into the lane whenever he wants. I feel like the fact that he doesn't shoot makes him a better point guard, that's just my opinion though.

All he does is look for his teammates even when teams dare him to beat them himself. The issue is he can beat you himself if he wants to based off those triple D's in the playoffs last year. Like that 29 pt, 18 reb, 14 ast massacre last year lol.

If he's not in the mvp talks this year I'll be all like

Nice math there, buddy. Twenty-four assists would lead to 48 points if they were all two-point shots. :p

    ^

And as is always the case, I make fun of someone and I stupidly forget to include the points he scored himself.

    I give credit to Garnett.

Even though he went from the tough warrior image to a whining p***y, the guy keeps the players in check. I can remember numerous cases where Garnett personally disciplined the players for making a mistake.

I'll take Garnett any day of the week. He is a textbook example of a good leader, and his "intangibles" are more valuable than any other player in the league.

Three years ago during the Celtics championship run, almost nobody here would give Rondo any respect whether it was how good he was then or what upside he had.

    Rondo's line after 3 games:
    11 pts, 6 reb, 17 ast, 2 stl, 5 TOs

    Russell Westbrook so far:
    23 pts, 8 reb, 9 ast, 2 stl, 3 TOs.

Westbrook isn't far behind Rondo. Both guys are very good fits for their teams and I would argue Westbrook has grown even more than Rondo the last 2 years. By season's end, I'm not sure which guy will be higher on the PG totem pole. He doesn't get as much attention because of Durant, but Westbrook is better than most think. He's come a long way in learning how to control tempo, pick his spots and get guys the ball where they want it. IMO, his ceiling is actually higher than Rondo's.

that dead spin story makes me wonder how many "assists" Lebron really got at all his home games in cleavland

What's interesting, neither of those guys is a good shooter. We enter a new generation of great guards. Forget shooting and guys like Billups, Nash.

It is all about athleticism and quickness now. Will be more fun to watch

t_mac1 said you gave Rondo two steps, and he'd be automatically shut down.

Rondo is a terrible shooter. Westbrook is just OK. Westbrook can abuse poor defensive guards. Rondo cannot. But both guys are good enough at other things to more than make up for the difference. Rondo's on-ball skills on defense are incredible. Sometimes it's dangerous to even diribble near him.

Still, the ability to hit huge jumpers in crunch time can't be overlooked. Westbrook does it sometimes. Rondo almost never. Clutch shooters like Nash and Billups than can also make good decisions passing the ball are priceless. Eventually Westbrook's jumper will be consistent and reliable. He's had stretches of 10-15 games where his jumper is money. One of these days he will figure it out.

The thing that is scary about Westbrook is he has learned from Durant how to collect shooting fouls and get to the stripe at an ungodly rate. It's totally crazy when a bad shooter can get 10 free throws a game. But it works and makes him highly effective on the offensive end. His D is already there.

lol, dude, did you add in the 10 points that rondo tallied? cause I did....if you want I write it out for you....(24x2) + 10.... I added brackets just in case you were sure whether multiplication came before addition or not. Just to make sure lol.

I immediately realized you were including his own points and even posted that right after the post you're responding to.

Why Lebron in particular? Most players in the league are probably getting help from the home score keeper.

It helps playing with Paul Peirce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett.

I don't care how "washed up" they are.

He's a beast but how good would he be on the Jazz/Hornets?
