Is this true? The Kings are reportedly ready to send third-year point guard Isiah Thomas, rookie shooting guard Ben McLemore, shooting guard Marcos Thornton, power forward Jason Thompson, and two future first-round picks to the Celtics for Rondo. http://nbastartingfive.com/home.jsp lock if posted
Yeah, the locker room is going to be fantastic if that trade goes through. But they would have some serious talent.
Wow and People around here said Asik and Lin would be enough for Rondo If I am Boston I would do it easily.
Actually fits well with the Gay trade, in terms of get-talented-right-now philosophy. Also, Gay loves to shoot. Rondo doesn't. (shrugs)
They get the best player obviously but it depends on how high those 1sts end up being. Boston could end up with two lottery picks plus BM who was a lottery pick himself. Interesting trade if true.
Thats a freaking haul if tru (no legit reports yet). Keep in mind though that the Kings owe this years 2014 first round pick to Cleveland, and cannot trade consecutive 1st rounders. So the best pick they could offer is their own 2016 first rounder. So the pick situation doesn't look to be that good. However Isiah Thomas has been playing out of his mind as of lately, and dramatically helps that team out on the offensive end. McLemore looks like a nice player as well. Also, this trade as stated, cannot work salary wise. The Kings would only need to give up one of J. Thompson or M. Thornton. Adding both puts the Celtics over the lux tax which I'm sure as hell they dont want to do with a rebuilding roster. M. Brooks & Pressey would probably go out back to the Kings as well in the deal because the Celtics need roster spots.
Very good deal for the Celts, who would then flip Thornton and Thompson for more future draft picks or try to trade up higher in 2014 specifically.
I don't think anyone seriously indicated Asik and Lin would get Rondo. Trading for those two makes little sense for Boston, especially since Ainge has said the playoffs are not a goal this year. Trading for picks and a lotto pick from this year makes more sense.
