Didn't see a thread and was wondering if anyone caught this last night...It was the series premiere and IMO, was pretty good...Very authentic in detail and should be a pretty good show...This should be a good show from the standpoint of telling the story of Rome in its true form, not sugar coating or having to worry about censor's...

I saw it and thought it looked very promising. It did a good job at showing how different the culture was back in pre-Christianity times. I look forward to seeing the rest of the series.

There is a very limited sample size, but so far, I think this is a superior series to the one that was on ABC (Empire, I think?) Looks like another winner out of HBO.

I was just happy that they've continued the long theatrical and cinematic tradition of letting us know they're Romans by giving them all proper British accents!

Seriously, as SM notes, another winner for HBO. I love Sunday nights.

Loved it. A million times better than "Empire." It treats the subject matter very, very seriously. And that naked mom is one delicious b****.

I thought ROME was pretty good... I bet that Brutus starts some stuff! SARCASM

Honestly though, I can't wait for Deadwood to come back.

Indeed. The significant other and I watch more HBO than anything else. Even the stuff they've had that I didn't like was extremely well done, lol. This looks to be really good. The sex and nudity weren't half bad, either. ;)

Wait a minute, episode 2 was on Sunday? I could only find re-runs when I looked for it yesterday. Was there a new episode of Entourage too?

I love this series, but I love history mixed in with a little drama...the set up was nice and can't wait for next week...

I watched Entourage and I thought it was the season finale...great show also...

Nope. You missed the lesbian scene between Mandy Moore and Ari's boss' daughter. It was hot...and won't be replayed. Sorry man.

Not to derail the Entourage thread, but.... For me, Rome has a ways to go for me to call great. Deadwood is great, but I have to find some likeable characters in Rome. Otherwise, it's just decadence and poor man's porno.

I am starting to like Titus a little bit. He sure did recover fast from brain surgery. Was that glass they removed from the bottle that was broken over his head? How did glass penetrate his skull to the point they had to remove a part of his skull to get to the glass?

Julius Ceasar is starting to grow on me a little. Marc Anthony might be likeable. The rest are pretty much scummo. Costumes are pretty cool.
