What scrub second rounder who won the lottery wouldn't sign as quickly as possible before an obviously inebriated Rocket staff sobered?

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?

Personally, I think this is a good pick and that Head is going to be big for the Rockets starting this season. He'll come off the bench as a spark defensively and he can hit the outside shot. Good job by the Rockets brass getting this taken care of as soon as possible.

For whomever it was who was hoping we'd still trade Head, it's impossible now.

Cool that was really fast lol

I'm worried about his character though or whatever off the court?

    Betrayed.

We needed a PG -- we passed on Roko-Leni.
We needed a PF -- we passed on Chris Taft.
We needed a SF -- we passed on Ersan Ilyasova
We needed a backup C -- we passed on Johan Petro.

    Relax, man.

We don't want a rookie PF or C. Ideally, we want somebody with a little experience and proven toughness. Big men historically take longer to develop. Look at Garnett and even Amare...and they are studs. Look at Yao.

Head, if he can prove some worth, sounds perfect. If we had him when we played Dallas, we would not have lost. End of story. (Having JHow would have been nice too).

1st Round picks are guaranteed a contract, so it was an inevitability anyway.

Betrayed? Because we missed out on these major question marks. Head was as safe a pick as anyone else on the board. Which is something we needed. We couldn't afford another wipeout first round pick, which all of those you mentioned could likely be.

The only thing that disappointed me was that we couldn't trade up before the draft to pick off one of the falling G's (Green, Granger, Graham).

You don't seem to know ****. Luther was forced to play the SG/SF postion in college because of Deron and Dee. He averaged 4 APG without even having the ball in his hand most of the time! He's very underated and I'm sure he's going to be very succesfull.

to be honest I like the guy but my main concern is he is another small SG trying to play Point. We have had quite alot of those lately ..

    SF3
    Cat (early in his career)
    Sura
    MJames
RGaines (they were giving it a try)

so now we have Head who is really a small 2.. seems kind of redundant to MJames.

What the hell are you talking about? Rockets have to sign him. What difference does it make if it was today or next week?
The quicker you sign him, the more you show him that you have confidence in him and that he's a part of the team.

The four players I mentioned all are question marks, but so is Head. The difference is that he is a rather small Mike James clone -- oops, we already have Mike James. At least the other four have a chance to be a real force for the Rockets. Head has an excellent chance to be a backup player -- who will take 24 months to develop according to JVG. So, two years from now, I'd rather than a Blatche or Taft or any kind of developing big man who has a chance to be on the court rather than on the pine waiting to back up somebody.

Quotes from Taft already indicate he is angry about his fall and is itching to prove everybody wrong. He sounded pretty motivated to me. Only time will tell. I pray I am wrong about Head, but I think his selection left us behind Denver, Utah, Golden State and Memphis -- all of whom significantly improved their teams -- which means we are lottery bound.

    That's why I feel betrayed.

Give me a break. Every single one of those guys are wwaayy bigger question marks than Head and by far might I add.

Roko-Leni is going to stay in Euro for the next couple seasons, plus we have Spanoullis

Taft fell all the way into th 40's for a reason, the guy has no drive and that's why every single team passed on him, some even passed twice.

Ersan Ilyasova was a Boki waiting to happen, if he was a bust, you'd be even more pissed.

Petro is the same story, we need a backup C, but I see us resigning Deke for another year. We had bigger holes we needed to fill.

I was a little dissappointed when we passed on Simien for Head, but we lack quickness and athleticism in the backcourt, and Head will hopefully be able to address those 2 needs.

Wow!! So just because we got a small SG in the draft, we are lottery bound? I guess we might as well trade TMac and Yao since we won't even make the playoffs anyways.

With CBA, First rounders only get a two year deal with a team option for a third year.
