Is anyone going to this today? It's my first time going. Can someone give me a recap of this? I know the purpose of this is the Rockets playing games with the fans....Do the players actually show up? Not the bench players but whole team?
My first time too. I going to take my son. He's too young to do any of the activities, but I hope I can get a picture or two of him on the court.
I went a while back when we had Steve and Cat, and sure enough all the players were there. It was at D&B, and Steve was at the basketball goal shooting with fans (big line to play with him). Yao was at the horse racing game (big line to play with him). Cat was playing some video game (big line to play with him). So I settled for playing arcace basketball with Marc Jackson (no line for him). But yea, all the players were there that year.
Went last year and it was cool. The wife and I just sat in the stands and watched stuff going on the court with players and stuff. Apparently, there were players walking around and doing things on the concourse with fans, but we missed all of that being lazy. lol I liked that they were just trying to give away hotdogs at the end of the night in the concessions, so we got like 4 free hotdogs each. LOL!!!
I'll be there, with Miguel and my cousin Its pretty sweet, basically the Toyota Center is setup with Arcade games in the concession area, mainly by the main entrance, they also have Air Hockey and Ping Pong Tables, As far as players playing with you, its pretty random, they usually just walk up to play against you, so its not like a line of people to play against a specific player. The court usually has kinda like a camp some of the players teach the kids on one half of the court, and the other half, the adults can shoot at the basket. Last year, they also had a Laser Tag type setup, along with the Rockets Locker room open for the public to see. Be sure to get there early, first 500 either get a pic with a player or an autograph. I'm uploading a few pics now from last year, I'll post them in a bit
I knew I screwed that one up. Yes I meant Mark Jackson. He kicked my ass in arcade basketball by the way.
food is free, hell, I got like 6-8 hot dogs throughout the 2-3 hours i was there. Can't really pick, its random when you get in, they gave like a pass thats either an autograph or photo session, I personally want a pic, don't really care about signatures since you can't bring in your memorabilia to sign anyway Its funny, last year, I originally got a picture with Novak, went back to claim my pic and they couldn't find it, so they let me take a pic with the next player, which was Deke, which I didn't mind at all btw, don't be a stranger and say whatsup to us if you see us, I'm pretty sure I've made aware of how I look like
its only for season/half season/mini pack ticket holders. It used to be just for season ticket holders a few years back, now its for everybody that gets a ticket package. btw, I've seen other teams do these type of gatherings, if I remember correctly, I think the Suns did it a theme park, which would've been bad ass if we still had Astroworld.
Go over there and make my dreams come true, Dave! ask them if anyone of them has heard of CF.net... if so tell them Yaozer says wassuuupp!
See you there Mig! If you see a guy in a Rockets football jersey with a blonde toddler in a Yao jersey, that's me.
