There is a lot being discussed about our deficiencies at 2 and 4, but I think we need a true PG who can create his own shot and set Yao and Tmac for easy buckets so that they are not worn down by the 4th quarter. See what Wade and Nash are doing for their team or how a healthy Kidd led a lowly Nets to finals a couple of years back? But the question is who could be had, for what price and how? My personal choice is Mike Bibby. Looking at the Webber trade, it is apparent that Sac have realized that with the current peaces they can not win it all and if they get some cap flexibility they may be ready to retool. Portland could be a potential partner to broker a deal between ockets and Sac. They would be more than happy to get rid of the long tern contracts for the expiring one. Their experiment to build around Randolph and Miles is not paying off and some flexibility would do them a world of good. Here is what I propose:

Rockets send their 2.9M TE+2005 Ist Pick + the expiring contracts of Spoon and Baker to Portland for Darius Miles and Ruben Patterson (TE will take care of the base year status of Miles). Then rockets trade Miles+ expiring contracts of James + Moochie Norris + Ward + our Ist rounder in 2006 to Sacramento for Bibby and C. Williamson. Patterson and the Big Nasty both will provide us the toughness and depth and will come off the books in two years when Yao’s big contract will kick in. This still leaves us with the NY second rounder in 2006 and MLE to fulfill the other needs. We can still sign SAR/DM/Swift/Ewans for MLE or swing a trade to acquire someone like Danny Forston (unhappy in Seattle) for Williamson (similar contracts and duration)and split the MLE to acquire more role players: Our roster would be

    Bibby/Sura
    Wesley/Patterson/Barry
    Tmac/ /Bowen
    JH/Forston/Padget
    Yao/Mumambo

    +TE (SAR/ DM/Swift/Ewans/Mobley/Spree----- ).

Heck of a team. At least four starters under the contract for 4+ years, decent backups with short term contracts (providing flexibility). Rocks all the way-----------.

Why in the world would the Kings give us an All-star caliber player who is not only in his prime but also the heart of that Kings team.
