Has the slow down game hurt out team's conditioning?
In the late portions of games .. . . does it seem our team's
energy level is lower? [Esp considering the long minutes]

Perhaps JVG needs to extend the rotation
    or something

    Rocket River
will Clarence W. ever play . . .or is he Man Boobs 2.0

i dont think our problems yesterday could have been atrributed to lack of proper conditioning. the commentators seem to be speaking on the subject all night long...but frankly...they kept speaking about yao being tired, usually, when one of our guys is at the free throw line, you can see yao in the backcourt bending over gasping for breath, i didnt see that last night. i didnt see us get beat in transistion all that much except ofcourse off steals. rebounding was our main problem, and its the exact same situation that we faced in the first boston game. a team throwing up long bricks and getting the long rebounds. our defense was clogged in the middle and that mixed with the speed of the grizzlies wing players means that we lost out on alot of those long boards. as for the energy, i dont think we lacked much of it. if anything i think we matched the grizzlies energy level throughout the game, however....that crowd got memphis back in the game. our team looked confused and taken out at some portions it seemed by the crowd alone! if i was sitting in another room and overheard what was on TV, i woulda thought it was arco arena in the deciding game of the western conference finals.

note: i think last night is the first time that the grizzlies have won on national tv.

Takes alot of energy to chase those rebound down. Then the rotations on defense. At the end of games we seem to get alot sloppier.

Dude, I totally agree. JVG's philosophy seems to be to play the regular season like it's the playoffs, with tough D and a small rotation. That's pure folly. Even if the fatigue only cost us a half or quarter step, that could 1 or 2 rebounds late in the game, which means a lot in a close game.

Padgett, Boki, Pike, Mo all show they can play at least in spurts. The rotation ought to be at least 9 guys, 10 after MJ gets into shape.

Look at Memphis. They have 10 players avg. 9+. Thay are mostly young and athletic. They wore down our young and athletic team - AND our thick headed coach..... Denver will too.... these are the teams we need to beat...

Hubie Brown's system is based on having two solid players at each position and limiting minutes so that his team has more energy down the stretch.

I think it was in the Memphis paper today too.

Just like we didn't have enough energy for them, they shouldn't have had enough offense for us if our system worked.

Well...we are #1 in field goal % in the fourth quarter. We are usually okay...

Yao always gets tired. He should dominate when he is in...30 minutes a game.

    Weatherspoon..I don't know. He used to be decent...but probably now is Manboobs 2.0. :/ :p :)

Yesterday was bad though. Do the Rockets still have those long additional practices? I think they help..but we will beat the Grizzlies next time!

I also think we should play all of our guys..Nachbar, Piatkowski, Padgett, Jackson, and everyone...split the time. The amount of playing time will depend on matchups and performance..I would like to see everyone play.

JVG always ran a 7, 8 at best man rotation in NY, this really isn't surprising

Exactly. Their game is to play lots of people and use fresh legs as an advantage.

Their system beat our system last night. It was a good game. We don't have to like the outcome, but we can accept that sometimes we just get outplayed and outcoached. Hopefully we'll learn something and move on.

I'm not sure that is necessarily by design so much as it is by necessity. Brown inherited this team. He does like athletes, but if he had a superstar, you can bet he'd log a lot of minutes.

I though JVG was a fitness fanatic. You know, diciple of Pat Riley, sent everybody a letter about what shape he expected them to be in, special exercise bikes, all of that suff.

Give credit where credit is due. Memphis is a decent team, and they are hard to beat on their home court.

I like the Grizz. Personally, I pulling for them to make the playoffs. Hope they finish 7th, right behind the Rockets.
