If we're talking about marketing in general, I think a good case study would be the Sixers. Yes, they did go from very bad to very good, and obviously, that helps, but they also put on a marketing bliz that really got them out into the city, more involved, etc. Also, Les can try and look at the Comets. I realize the fan base for those games is completely different, but they have a solid following. While, for example, I second Old School's initial reaction to the Power Dancers wearing less clothing, is this really going to promote people buying tickets?
While we are on the cheerleader topic, can we please lose the Animals Have Rights on the back of the tops?? Hey, I'm all for animals but not in that way. Les: Buy your ads, billboards or whatever to express your views, not the back of women. os
The last two preseason games have had good half time stuff. Keep doing player/coach interviews and not just fluff!
id like a where are they now feature once a week on former rockets. i would like to see what chuck nevitt is up too...
What about a weekly feature called "Here's what people are talking about on cc.net?" Cull the hot topics from the message board (kinda like the message board box on the front page) and have the announcers share thier opinion on the topics
Would really like to see behind the scene's segments. Similar to what the NBDL does on espn2. What players are having to deal with injuries, new additions & cuts to team...etc. The "reality" behind the rockets.
I just want to be able to see the games (I live in Austin and this is considered Spurs territory, even though a majority of people are from Houston or are Rockets fans)
Anyone notice they are putting the feature first with the highlights and scoreboard after that? I like that better. Personally, I wish they'd just ditch the scoreboard. They could do a scroller or something across the bottom. I'd much rather hear analysis of the first half over scores from other teams. And God bless Lisa M, but she sometimes has beyatch of a time with that scoreboard. If it isn't EXACTLY as her script says, she falls all over herself.
Post Game: I like the idea of carrying an extended post game press conference. I don't like the Knicks, but they always have the coach giving a press conference immediately after the games. I like that aspect. Half-time: They used to have a feature that gives pointers for kids or other basketball players. I remember Jim Peterson did one on boxing out and rebounding when he was on the team. I've seen Calvin do one on long distance shooting too. I like those things. PreGame: I agree with a lot of what's been said about Calvin and Bill, and talking to Players, from each team etc.
I have a request: Could the Rockets go back to showing the starting lineup introductions instead of the national anthem? It gets old very fast.
I am in Mav territory. Wish i could see the games, wish espn or fssw or some one...would pick them up...i know they sucked last year, but that was last year. man...hope someone wants to show them on their channel here.
He wasn't making fun of the national anthem, for goodness sake, he was just saying he actually wants to see the introduction of the starting lineup when watching a SPORTING event - not too much to ask.
