The D&D is awash with discussion of Bush/Kerry flip-flops so I thought it might be fun to talk about some current and historical Rocket flip-flops-- in any way related to the Rockets.

You may also brag about your hardline position regarding potential flip-flops.

Here's mine: I hated the trade for Barkley. I was bemused by his acquistion, but I knew the price was too steep and his best game was well behind him... pun intended. :D

Like politics, alot of these flip flops will be based on hindsight.

Not necessarily directly Rocket related, but I hated Larry Bird when he was in the league, but have grown to love him since he left.

    Hey, me too. Neat.

    How about:

Rudy : "We run the least isos in the league."

Les : " This is the most talented team ever assembled."

Mo T : " I promise never to smoke again."

Moochie : "I'm poised for my best season"

Shandon : "I came to the Rockets to make a difference"

Pippen : "I don't think coach knows how to use me"

Drexler : " We get along fine."

Barkley : "Sure I party, but I'm strickly a professional on game day."

    Hakeem : "Trade me"

Aw, that was gonna be mine.

Potentially, we have a Damon Jones flip flop. Release him when he's cheap and then sign him as a free agent for significantly more.

A few more came to mind :

    Steve : "Superbowl? What superbowl?"

Jeff : "Don't worry. It's all behind us. I'm committed to you, Steve."

CD : "We are very excited to be able to lock up this young talent in Kelvin Cato."

ooh - long list there . Maloney, Moochie, EG, Dave Jamerson, Mirsad Turksan, Glen Rice, etc.

Don Cheaney : "Coach of the Year"

    "Animals have rights, too"

"The summit is one of the nicer arenas in basketball"

"The new arena will have glass windows so the public can watch Rockets practices from street level!"

What I'm about to say is sacrilege.

For a long, long, time, even up through the championship years, my least favorite Rocket was Hakeem. I couldn't get past the whole faking-the-injury thing.

Suffice it to say, I've changed.

That's one I'm proud to say I was steadfastly in support of the Rockets for.

Here's a flip flop this entire board I'm sure is guilty of.

Getting Eddie Griffin is a steal.

Fran Blinebury's opinion of the Rockets before and after Akeem, Ralph and company crushed the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals in '86.

My first ever post, in a discussion about tanking to get a better draft position... This team needs to learn how to win, much more than itneeds to movve up to a mid lottery pick...

    A few pingpong balls later...

Trade Yao - gunna be a bust.

The thinking of us fans before the Sampson draft was that the Rockets should use their second pick to take Drexler. They took McCray instead, it turned out better and we changed our minds.....

Oh wait a sec, it didn't turn out better and we, the fans, were absolutely right before and after that selection.:(

Disregard, no flip flop by us on that one.

    Ataboy! :)

MacBeth Senior and I have a new Bird fan!

I hated Bill Laimbeer. But liked him when he beat the Lakers (also).

I had a love/hate relationship with Bird during his career. I hated him when he played the Rockets, obviously, but he had me watching the Celtics whenever they were on the tube. Heck, that whole Celtic team during the mid-'80's were a delight to watch. So I'm a Larry Bird/Celtic flip-flopper. :p

Never felt quite the same way about the Fakers... must have been because they were in the same conference, although I admired Riley and many of the individual players.

Having gradgeated from Purdue, I have to be a fan of someone who leaves Bobby Knight & making it big somewhere else(Larry Bird. :D

However, when the Celtics drafted him(oh,how I hated the Celtics), I lost my cookies!
