I had a question about the instruments for rockband 1&2. are the usb mic and usb drum set that was purchased for a ps3 version of the game work with a xbox? my friend is throwing a party friday night and wants me to bring my xbox (since i have rockband 2 and downloaded a whole bunch of songs) to play. He has a ps3 and already has the instruments but I want to know if I would have to bring all of mine as well. I have no issues about bringing my guitars (since the ps3 guitar is wireless and the xbox one is not) but bringing the drumset would be a pain. Anyone know if the usb instruments are cross compatible between platforms or will I have to bring the whole thing over?
The Mic should be. I have used the Wii mic on my PS3. I am not sure about the drums or Guitars. I would think the Guitars would not be, and would also think the drums would not be either, for the simple reason that they are controllers and you can't use PS3 controllers on Xbox360 (at least I don;t think you can). the Mic however is not a controller and id simply just a USB mic.
Don't really know to much about the PS3 but if it has usb plugins it should work that is what you plug the 360 instruments into. I'm prolly 70% sure if the usb outlets are on the ps3 it will work. sorry i couldn't be more help!
I don't know for sure but I think they will not work on the different system. The instruments are also controllers, and since controllers from PS3 and xbox won't work on the other systems I don't believe the drums or guitars will work.
if i am not mistaken, there is an adaptor that they sell that you are able to use your rock band instruments for any system. the best thing is to call a game stop or game crazy and ask those guys. they should be able to help you out.
I don't know if they will work for sure or not, but I'm guessing no. Here's why. This ain't no wishy-washy Made For iPod program here—Microsoft's officially playing some classic monopolistic moves with the way companies can make devices for the Xbox 360. You guessed it, only authorized peripherals (i.e. devices made by companies who are giving MS a cut of the scratch) deemed as such by a security mechanism they've engineered into the 360 will be able to connect to, control, or be used by the console. I'm running into a similar issue trying to use my x-arcade stick with the 360. There's a hack, but it's costing me around $150 to implement. If you really want to use the hack, let me know and I'll provide the details. Also, the teenagers who work at Gamestop are clueless about this stuff.
thanks looks like i'll have to bring almost everything with me except the mic dang oh well i guess thats the way it goes. not worth buying any sort of adapter for probably a one time thing. thanks for the info guys
Maybe they will trade you a adapter for that Novak jersey, nah, gamestop employees have probably seen the movie BASEketball more than they have seen any NBA games.
Can you use your original Rockband instruments on Rockband 2? Meaning can I just buy the game and use my old instruments?
