UMM...when do the Rockets' play the Hornets, again? I hate to see a city lose its team, but I can definitely live with this relocation! A little Rocks-Hornets, followed by a night in the Quarter.... ROAD TRIP!!
That article says the relocation fee will be $210 million. Do you think that's a typo, or is the League really going to charge a relocation fee that's $180 million more than the one they charged a year ago? And significantly more than the franchise is worth. Surely that's just a typo in the story.
Its not a typo, thats what the owners got bribbed with since afterall it gets split amongst them. BTW, I've heard that now the NBA will realign the divisions and the Hornets will go West and the Wolves East.
Interesting. A WNBA team in a non-NBA city. I think the Sting plays in Charlotte in 02 then moves to San Antonio in 03.
heh, according to Sportscenter, the Memphis Grizzlies are the only team that voted against the Hornets moving.
Well then, the deal will soon be off because the Hornets owners don't have $210 million (well, really $205 million since Louisiana is picking up $5 million of the relocation expenses). So I guess this vote was just window dressing. if the relocation fee is $210 million, that team is going nowhere. Jsut for the record, the current ESPN.com story says the relocation fee is $210 (no millions, just dollars). That's quite a disparity.
Newspapers today are reporting that the relocation fee is actually $30 million to be paid over five years rather than $210 million.
