    RIP. Like Ted Stevens I thought he was corrupt and abused his power but at the same time he was a man with a family that will miss him.

    it's worth noting in passing that the charges against stevens were dropped, albeit after he lst his re-election campaign.

    Will you be reviving this thread if charges against Charlie Rangel are eventually dropped? That would also be worth noting, right? Even if he's retired or deceased by then.

    I remember how people blasted me for piling on Jesse Helms when he died. I will be more respectful this time and say Rostenkowski was definitely not in my top 95% of congressman. It's a sad thing for the country he reached such a high position of power.

    Agreed. Personally, I won't say anything different about a person, regardless of whether they are alive or dead. If his family was here, I'd keep quiet, out of respect. But they aren't, so... Yeah, he was kind of a scumbag. Passing away doesn't really change that.
