Well, Roosevelt turned them into Democrats. If Obama doesn't spend all his political capital kissing up to Paulson, Geithner and the Wall Street types he can return them to the Democratic fold. Otherwise they will focus on how they are being screwed by Mexican immigrants living in other states or their problems can all be solved by prayer or Palin.

Yes, I am still wondering why DHS put those memos out. I didn't hear the exact verbiage, but no where in your summary included a single hint of violence. We are protected by the first amendment, regardless of how unpopular someones opinion might be. So once again, why should DHS be concerned? The term African-American is completely ignorant, especially by those who use it. I was going to make this point earlier in teh week in the tea party thread. this anger is really no different than the late eighties/early nineties right wing radio. We're talking twenty years now, there is a generation coming into their own who have been raised on these ideologies.
Sam, I think you not characteristically miss the point. The central economic problem is that corporate America will never subsidize radio that might have programs such as the desirability of raising the minimum wage and allowing people in reality to join unions free of harassment. Without the coke, gatorade, american express, car ads etc it is hard to support radio.
Lattimer invented it, but Bell got the patent. It worked the same as Edison's laboratory or Disney studios. The boss got the credit for what the workers did. The workers knew and agreed to this before working, but it doesn't change the fact of who really made the inventions, or drew the drawings etc.
Yes, he was hired to work on the idea, which actually was done first both in Italy in Germany in a slightly different way. Lattimer was the one who really understood how it worked, and was able to make the idea a reality.
I first learned about it in college. But you can read any biography on Lattimer. I think maybe there was some confusion initially, but look at rowdy's post, and my response to him. I'm not saying Lattimer had the idea, I'm saying he brought it to life.
I read an interesting article that said that conservative programming like Limbaugh is basically given away free to rural radio stations. This allows them the ability to fill up hours with no cost to them. Ever wonder why out in the middle of West Texas the only station has Limbaugh, Hannity and crew on all day?

I think you're overstating here. Yes, Latimer drafted the drawing necessary for the patent application, but you're implying Bell said "draw me a telephone that actually will work" and then Latimer did all the rest with no additional verbal or written input from Bell. That said, he was a brilliant man of inventions in his own right.
I stopped listening to conservative radio when I heard them say "blacks should be happy that we brought them to America or they would still be running around uncivilized". Limbaugh laughing for a full minute at the thought of having a black president and a women vice president doing the democratic primaries. Innuendo from Michel Berry that blacks might be intellectually inferior to whites due to their genetic make up. The whole Obama hates “whitey” and is a racist diatribes that Walton and Johnson continue on their radio show in the mornings... Then most of the conservative shows in concert making an effort to tie Obama to Hitler and Satan on a daily basis. I use to listen to hear the other side and even thought some of it was funny, but I can’t stand to listen to it anymore. I only listen to Pacifica and N.P.R now. They are more center left, but conservative voices or welcomed without a call screener and are not patronized when they are critical. There are also more independents and liberals’, who will not hesitate to bash policies they don’t agree with from democrats.
I heard that dumb azz BiATCH........on Michael Berry's show. I couldn't believe she went there. Just because most minorities saw right thru this Obama-bashing secession for what it was, she was UPSET. She was from the Woodlands. She was probably some spoiled housewife, who husband keeps her as a TROPY, and is afraid of losing some of her SPA money.
