    I've read so much Francis bashing and so many people talkin bout how Ming WILL be in a Rockets jersey. Francis, Griffin, and hopefully Mobley are our nucleus for years to come and Ming is a big "?" He may be the next big thing or he may not even come to America. I want whats best for the team and right now Ming isn't even on the team yet. There was supposed to be an announcement yesterday but there wasn't. Open your eyes and look around you, quit hating on Steve, and start thinkin bout a Rockets team w/out Ming, cause it could happen.

    You mean the type of team that doesn't make it to the playoffs in three years? Great, that's just what I want to think about.

    LOL, c'mon guy. We both know we have a really good team. One player that EVERYONE agrees is supposed to be a project isn't gonna get us that much closer to the playoffs this year anyway. Believe me, I know how frustrating things can be but there are more players that can help us out there than Ming. I want the guy in a Rockets uniform but right now it may be time to save face and move on. I know if I was a fan of another team I'd be laughing at the Rockets right now. Sometimes I wish we just had the 5th pick.... (just cause it would be easier; not for any other reason)

    aight, what happens when we draft him and he ends up staying in China for some unknown reason. People keep acting like he has the CBA clearance, he doesn't. People keep acting like he has the FIBA clearance, he doesn't. Ming will have an immediate impact but not to the extent that many people may think. Ming will be good, better than average, which is awesome but right now we are playing w/ our future and if I were either Rudy and CD I would weigh everything very carefully before I draft anybody.

    yes he does, haven't you been reading the undates?
    People keep acting like he has the FIBA clearance, he doesn't.
    They said he has gotten it, but nothing official yet
    Ming will have an immediate impact but not to the extent that many people may think. Okay, which player in the NBA draft is a sure thing that we need? Butler, JWill? They haven't proven anything in the NBA yet.

    You say that ming will be a better than average player. We NEED a center right now...the decision seems obvious. I'm sure rudy and CD did weigh everything out before deciding, why else would we be bringing people into tryout?

    Do you really think that Rudy and Carroll Dawson aren't weighing eveything very carefully? Why do you think they both personally went to China? what do you think that they discussed while in China? Why do you think that they sent Dr. Lowe to check out Yao? Do you think that they aren't in contact with the Chinese daily? Do you think that they haven't evaluated any trade offers that they receive?

    Now, if they select Yao, what does that tell us? It tells us that they think that he will make an impact and they think that he will indeed play for us. So, if the people with the biggest stake in this and who are more informed than anybody, thinks that drafting Yao is the right move, then why would you question it based on alot of unfounded speculation?

    aelliot, you make a very very valid point. I am speculating and again I don't know. I just hate the fact that people on this board are so closed minded to whats goin on around them. One player isn't going to make me be less of a Rockets fan. Man, Yao isn't a center. Hakeem was a center, Shaq is a center, Yao isn't. He has a small forward type game in a tall body. I'm not saying that is bad but I'm just saying thats what we are probably gonna get tomorrow. My love for the team is what makes me want them to make the best decision possible and right now I don't believe that Ming is it. I've always been kinda a fence rider on this subject but now I would rather anything but to be stuck in this position. SRF, the process hasn't even gotten outta China. CBA has supposedly given clearance but the problem is still w/ China not w/ the FIBA.

    Its logical to be weary of a guy you have never viewed in action. I don't think people are Ming hating, its just they would rather go with talent they have already judged.

    Right now the Rockets have the ability to trade down and pick up a incedible amount of young talent, or roll the dice and draft what is suppose to be a multi-dimensional player that can almost redefine the 1 spot.

    Personally, I dont want to judge what I have never seen. Mings a blind date for all of us, lets hope he looks as good on the court as what is written on paper. Cd and RT have probably researched more on Ming than any player ever before in the career. If these guys are competent enough, and you have faith in their abilities to judge talent, then Mings a nobrainer. Now if you think the two are morons............ well then freak out now lol

    I used to be a Ming hater. I was very skeptical of him until I saw some of the clips of him online. He does have low post moves, can shoot, and from all accounts has some basketball acumen. He will block at least two shots a game because of his height and will change countless other shots. I would say his biggest weakness (pun not intended) will be his strength (or lack thereof) in the post. But look at Gasol last year....dude is a string bean and so is darius miles. If you have game, lack of strength can be overcome.

    <BR>

    I think one of the most important things he'll bring is the buzz that's been missing for a long time at the compaq center. In the last two years its been WAY too quiet. I think the added attention and fan support will elevate everyone's game that much more.

    Draft Ming
