Paul Silas has stated that the Cavs will not trade Davis. What else are you going to tell someone who was your premiere star last year and might have to step this year if the Lebron/D.Miles combo doesn't come through. In opinion James won't be playing the oint to long because it puts a ceiling on his potential and Dejuan Wagner would be a more justifiable experiment there. Also the Cavaliers gave Ira Newble a healthy contract to be the third string SG and SF? I doubt that, I think its to make Miles or Davis more expandable. Everybody knows that D.Miles has gotten close with James for a good reason, to secure his place in the Cavs foundation. In consequence pushing out star-budding Ricky Davis to the side. If the Rockets come with the right offer I think they can swoope Davis out of the Cavs hands. He's a freak athlete with unstoppable drive to the basket that runs the floor like a cheetah. His fundamentals are tremendously improving everygame but he is still missing the brain to play the game with fluidness. Ricky is problably misunderstood as a renegade with a ball and a 40+ inch vertical but he does listen eventhough it will problably take him time to come around as All-Star b/c he must break th bad habits of his game. Clevelands most uninsured positions are the power forward and the center spot. Why? Igluaskyus is injury prone every jump he makes because of his destructed foot being vulnerable to break at any second. Cato could possibly be a top 5 center in the East, especially on highlight filled, alley oop throwing team like the young cavs. Carlos Boozer is solid but he seems more like a 6th type player with his intense rebounding and hustle. They can have Griffin as a already advanced project to keep competition at the PF and maybe surpass Boozer next year. In order for this to work we will also have to take on a scrappy salary from them but I think its good for both teams. I personnally think that Mo Taylor is a one of our best players on the offensive end and can tend to surprise on D sometimes. Badiane can take Griffin's spot a year from now. What do ya'll think about it. Point is we have to amke aamove to at least get a squad assembled that will be our team for the next 5 or 6 years or a then this year will be a throw away. LMS
This is the same guy who threw it off the backboard to himself so he could get one more assist for a triple-double, right?
yep. 'cept it was for one more rebound, not assist. threw it off the opponent's backboard. supremely talented and equally immature.
His work ethic doesnt suck, hes been practicing all summer with Tim Grover on his Jump shot and strength so his leg doesnt get reinjured.
Ricky Davis to me is a young Spreewell. JVG did pretty well with him, so maybe JVG could make Davis into a star? I think it would be worth a shot. I'd hate to trade Griffin, but do you think a Griffin+Moochie for Davis would work? Davis is 6-7 so he might be abke to play SF. Just a thought.
Let's break this down... Not exactly the best way to help your case. Playing point puts a ceiling on his potential? Three words- Earvin "Magic" Johnson. Wagner more justifiable at point? His skill is scoring. James has court vision Wagner dreams of. Damn, I didn't know that. I would've thought the guy who inked a 6 year deal last year and had a break out year would be part of the foundation, not the upcoming free agent who spent the year on the DL, on the bench, and wondering how to fix his broken jumper. Okay. They did spend a lotto pick on a high school teenager a couple years back, Desagana Diop. With the money sunk into Ziggy, plus the pick investments made in Diop and even Mihm, I highly doubt they want Cato. 19 year old 2nd round pick, probably won't even be on the roster this year. Pencil him in for stardom. Francis, Mobley, Nachbar, Griffin, Ming. 3 top 7 picks, a 2nd rounder who can put up 20 ppg, and a #15. All under 30. All signed for at least 2 more years. As are Moochie, Cato, Taylor, and Piatkowski. I think: 1.) Forcing Ricky Davis to be a 3rd option is just asking for trouble. 2.) If people don't like Mobley, they should detest Davis. 3.) We would have no big men behind Yao and Mo in your trade. 4.) They've said they aren't trading Davis...that usually means they certainly aren't going to fire sale him. Hate to be rough, but Ricky Davis on the Rockets is among the worst ideas I've heard in awhile.
he acquired that reputation in los angeles and his first year with the cavs. he has been known as a "slacker" who doesn't put in the work necessary to improve his game. think about it...did anyone think he didn't need to work on his jumper? coming in from high school, that was the #1 knock on him - that he couldn't shoot. now, years later, he decides to try working on it. something tells me that he's doing this because "reality" finally hit him. "reality" is that he would end up out of the league in 3-4 more years if he didn't acquire a halfway consistent jumper. "reality" is that he was headed the same direction as cedric ceballos. i liked miles coming out of HS. i thought he'd be KG lite. but, his work ethic (or the lack thereof) has prevented progress. rather, he's focused more on the "flash" and less on the "substance".
it'd be...ovah. yao's touches would be...ovah. our assist numbers' chances of reaching double figures would be...ovah.
As a native Clevelander, I saw a lot of Miles last season, and I think he could really be valuable to a team where he doesn't have all the weight on his shoulders. The Cavs just wanted too much out of him in his first year here. Another problem was that he wasn't motivated enough (and who would be playing on the Cavs?) When the Cavs were actually doing well during games, Miles played great. And i think he could play great for the Rockets at SF. Plus he's a decent PG if needed.
We could bring Othella the fella back to be our starter at the 4 too. Poor Yao. Just imagine how many highlights we would get on sportscenter with Yao being frozen to death on every possession?
Ricky davis is a poor mans version of Francis and Mobes........ If you guys hate ball dominating guards, then why the hell are we even talkin about this????????????? He's not that much different than Mobes, and I woudn't give Griffin or Mobley for him, the only way Griff or Mobes moves is for a bonafied star, and nothing less........Ricky is no where near that. Plus the guy thinks he's more of a star than he really is..... Bottom line Horrible thread Unless we traded Moochie for him, he ain't worth it. PERIOD.
Alot of you guys are saying that Davis is a selfish player in the mold of Mobley, but the guy did average 5.5 assists per game last year, if only we could get that out of Cat. I not saying that we should make a move for Davis, he's a guy that has to have the ball in his hands to be effective, and turns the ball over way too much, but I think I'd rather have him then Mobley.
