Chemistry is cited by many commentators and players as a major reason for the win streak.

What struck me about this group is how every cat on the team is a serious cat-- all business. the maturity level of the team is off the charts (and not just because Mutombo is 1000 years old and can't be killed except by decapitation).

From the rookies to 16 year vet, the team's winning has a lot to do with the character of the guys. Compare this team's demeanor with that of the Nuggets, Kings, Knicks, hawks etc and you'll see.

The Adult-Men beat boys every time.

Great point, looking back at many successful teams in the past they have had older and more mature players, like the Spurs in the past few years.

I just heard Ric Bucher on espn talking about the Rockets, he says that the slow start was blamed on T-Mac being a clog with the ball by his teamates!!!!!!!!

Definitely. It's what makes this year's playoff race so scary in the West. All of these teams don't have cancers in them. The Suns got rid of their questionably motivated player for the most motivated player ever. The Spurs have that mental tenacity and character. The Mavs can have it if Jekyll/Hyde (Dirk) shows the right face. The Lakers have it now with Kobe, Gasol, Fisher, and Odom all being mentally focused. The Hornets surprisingly display it as well. It's one reason why "experience is important": experience brings a cultivated sense of that mental focus and solid character.

We picked up good young guys who have it in Landry and Hayes. They have it because it's how they are as people and how they've clawed their way to basketball success. This "clawing" has caused them to develop and strengthen their focus and tenacity, so that it comes naturally in their basketball. Scola has it as a champion in other parts of the world. Battier's just got it, and Duke probably helped. It helps that all these guys are class acts to begin with, so they are open and willing to work hard. They understand the value of focus and the success it can reap.

The Rockets seem to have this tenacity and ethic at an obscenely amazing level right now, and the chemistry and tenacity we're showing could translate into something magical come playoff time.
