 All right, that's it! You do realize that (before Frontiers) Journey was a legitimate hard rock band with some great albums to their credit, right?

You can have it "Any Way You Want It" but I'm reporting this post to the moderators. And when you get banned for making fun of Journey yet again, I will be saying:

NAAA NA NA NAAA NA NA, NA NAAA NA NAAA NAAA

Listening to you guys talk about Journey makes me glad I'm younger than you. Now hold your horses cowboys, I know there is more than plenty of crap music from my generation, it's just that, "we talking about Journey!"

To me, this is the only serious point in this thread worth discussing. I didn't say boo about the Kerry rumor, and won;t about this, mostly because I don't care, and hate that this kind of stuff has any political impact.

There are other notes of less serious interest; SF's passion for Journey, Batman's desire to be tickled by Perry, T_J's continued monkey dance, B-Bob's facility with lyrics, etc. All have their own appeal...

But the point RM made here is, I think, noteworthy. Despite all evidence to the contrary, despite the free ride Bush got in the period leading up to the war until very, very recently, despite the fact that he has been caught n bold faced decpetion and possibly even greater incompetence, depsite the fact that the largest media outlet in the country, Fox News, is also as partial as any I've ever seen, and contributed greatyl ( according to studies) to people believing proven untruths, despite all of this, the madia is still called liberal whenever anyone wants to avoid dealing with something brought to us via that lens; presumably we should listen to Fox ( somehow not media) or concentrate on the flights of birds from which to devine ur political information.

And yet, as we have seen with parallels in Perry vs. Kerry, although I will admit one has a larger national profile, within the state in question, there is swamp coverage of the latter, and the former is hushed up. And yet, the next time some media outlet quotes Bush saying we are certain there are WMDs in Iraq, his supporters will blame his words on the liberal media...

    SamFisher.
Do not even bother; T_J may never get it. I am certain he will continue in his masturbatory dribbles in this discourse.

"making fun" of Journey? Dude, who linked you to the Journey video game website?

Journey was technically a bit before my time, but anyway, my appreciation for it dates back to my senior year of college. For whatever reason, my best buddy/roommate had the Journey 3 disc boxed set. So on saturday afternoons every now and then, we would blast Journey out the windows of our room in the fraternity complex and drink beers. Most people thought it was weird but a lot of chicks actually liked it and occassionally would come on up and hang out. Good times.

This is the final word, but there is nothing, nothing wrong with Journey. I got laid so many times to "Open Arms" or any of their other cheesy classics that I owe them a debt of gratitude. So no more capping on Journey, please.

Who cares if Perry is having sex? As long as it doesn't impact his job, his personal life is completely irrelevant.

"Never mind gay marriage. I am just shocked by the attacks
on the institution of Journey. The nation is not ready for this,
and we need to sit down and have discussions, as a community,
before we consider changing the rightful definition of Journey:
a natural union between perfection and kick ass rock and roll!"

What I really love is MacBeth and T_J wading in and being serious
about the Perry (Rick) aspects of this thread. :)

That's why it's news, if true. Such blatant hypocrisy wouldn't be new, but it sure as hell would be news worthy.

It would be news-worthy because people are suckers for anything involving sex, but that doesn't make it right.

I think Perry is a corporate w**** with backwards ideas and ridiculous politics, but his personal life is none of my business.

Politicians should be judged on their politics, not their personal lives.

In an ideal world, yes. Perry doesn't play the least bit "fair" politically. He's guilty of "casting the first stone" many times over. Now, I don't think this rumor is true... it's so outrageous... but it's all over Austin. It's the main topic of conversation by Republicans as well as others. If the hypothetical turns out to be true, then Perry deserves to be called out as a hypocrite. We'll have to wait and see if he deserves it.

Hey, GV, we can't agree about everything! :)

NO! We must agree on everything! Everything! :p

I just think we relinguish visions of an ideal world too easily. We have to choose our battles politically, yes. But we're often too quick to abandon ideals for a quick victory or resolution.

If you are referencing the more sustained staccato part, then it would be more like:

    ...where i'll be tomo-ah-ah-ah-roh!

    Much easier to get than:

Now it's your turn girl to cry.
Na na na na na na,
    na na na na na,
na na na na na na na na na na na
    repeat, ad infinitum

Do you think the guy who typed out the liner notes for the album had some kind of brain aneuryism directly associated with figuring out the total number, placement, and breaking of all of the "na"s?

I love Journey. They got me through my awkward teenage years.

OK, OK, OK. Maybe I was a little oversensitive on the Journey references. Sarcasm can be easily misconstrued on a bbs. It's just that I take a lot of heat from my friends about being a Journey fan.

rimbaud, did you see them last time they came to town? I didn't, but I heard the new singer sounds just like Steve Perry, some even say better.

rimbaud was the one that kept his high-flame lighter raised for the entire 84 minute show while he rocked side to side, eyes closed, cheeks wet from tears.

I saw them on television live...the new singer was not Steve Perry. He did sound similar, only he couldn't carry notes and stay in key. Steve Perry, of course, is pure singing perfection.

Even if the new guy was good, I would refuse to go if the tickets were free.
