I'm not sure how I missed this news. I think I saw the thread title and didn't put 2+2 together.

I've seen every episode of BoB multiple times and read his book, "Beyond Band of Brothers: The War Memoirs of Major Dick Winters" a few times as well. He can say he wasn't a hero all he wants. The fact is, he is one of the greatest heros this country has ever known. The man lived as great a life as any of us could have hoped to have lived.

Thank you, Major Winters. May you rest in peace.

"I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day when he said, 'Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?' Grandpa said 'No… but I served in a company of heroes.'"
    - Sergeant Mike Ranney, as quoted by Richard Winters

The world is minus one hero today. Rest easy, Lt. Compton. Job well done.

Definitely greatest mini-series ever. Definitely some of the bravest men to ever walk the face of the earth. Their humility post war is something to be congratulated, and a lesson to teach youth today.

    RIP to Winters & Compton.

I loved both of mini series. Amazing amazing masterpieces! I need to look up on IMBD to see who played Compton.

I need to read Dick Winters' book. I read Eugene Sledge (With the Old Breed) and Robert Leckie's books (Helmet for My Pillow).

Wow, he was a football and baseball player in college. Went to the war. Became a lawyer and judge. What an interesting, full life this man led.
    RIP
