Richard Jefferson, the prize of the Spurs' offseason makeover, dislocated his right thumb during a workout earlier today, casting his availability for the start of his first San Antonio training camp in doubt.

The injury is not considered serious, and the Spurs are expecting Jefferson's absence to be measured in weeks, not months.

Jefferson suffered the injury during a pick-up game at the Spurs practice facility. X-rays taken later were negative, and Jefferson will be re-evaluated again next week, at which point the team will set a more firm timetable for him to return to full basketball activities.
