I love RIP and how he never seems to run out of energy. He's never standing around and i think that is the type of player we need so we can have more movement.
Yes this is what the Rockets really need, more aging veterans. Maybe we should bring back Mutumbo next year too. How bout Michael Jordan?
Sorry, made me laugh. Good thread though; you're right, we need to trade McGrady, assuming we can get a good piece in return, and we need to keep the core intact as much as possible.
Adelman could implement Rip into the offense. PEja couldnt create for himself either and relied on a lotta screens and backscreens to score. He just stuck on the perimeter more than Rip.
Couldn't disagree more. Rip is more in the mold of a Reggie Miller who can continue to play into his late thirties. His stats for 08-09 were down slightly from an incredible 07-08, but on par with his previous Detroit seasons. Also, the Detroit team rallied and played decent regular season basketball once he was reinserted into the line-up. Moreover, his relentless ability to move without the ball would be a welcomed addition to this team and would only reinforce what Adelman is trying to accomplish. His three-point shooting would also nicely compliment Yao. When trading damaged goods, you have to accept some downside in return. In this case, it's his age. But in reality, the Rockets only have a small window remaining with this team. Yao's got what, 3 maybe 4 more years before he's a non-factor?
Aging or not Hamilton is great for Adelman offense, and this team, i don´t think we can get Prince, because if Detroit rebuilds, he is the keeper, the younger player with championship experience. But if somehow the resign McDyess or Rasheed on 3 year deals worth the between 4 and 5 million dollars then we could trade T-Mac for Rip-McDyess-Sheed, and pair up one of them with Barry or Artest or whatever player we want and obtain another good player. Anyway you haave to agree that even if we keep both this would be scary. Brooks/Lowry Hamilton/Wafer/Artest Battier/Artest Scola/McDyess/Landry Yao/Rasheed/McDyess This would also give us the chance to trade away Landry, Scola or Hayes. And we have pretty friendly expirings to add on.
I have been wanting a guy like rip hamilton or ray allen for a long time. I was actually hoping to get him instead of artest last offseason. He's definitely someone who could clear the lane and spread out the floor. He isn't that old and with a win now mentality, that's something we can use.
For RIP, the team need to pair him with a traditional PG, nash/kidd type. start a shooting pg Brooks with RIP will be disaster
why the hell to trade scola, Landry? Landry: a future allstar, can be 20/8 per game player, has more potentials than Brooks. Scola: a close to allstar player , still in his prime, will improve his games in coming years, only take 3mils per but worthy 8 mils per year
I haven't seen so many people posting RIP since the last Francis3422 thread... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=76336
No doubt, but that means Hamilton relies that much more on well-timed, accurate passing from his teammates to score. Given that Brooks needs a few more years to develop in that area, I have reservations that a Brooks/Hamilton backcourt would be our best option for next season. Plus, both Brooks and Hamilton don't look for a lot of contact in the paint and therefore don't draw a lot of fouls. This season, Hamilton averaged 3.9 free throws per game while Brooks shot 2.2 FTs. Combined, that's not enough fouls from your starting backcourt. You could argue that starting Lowry would solve these problems, and I'd agree with you: Lowry is the better passer and aggressively looks for contact in the paint. However, Lowry doesn't have enough offense to replace Brooks's output in the starting lineup, and that would create its own set of problems, IMO.
