    1. I don't recall reading anything in his CBA explanation that indicated his wish that you be impressed with his work (his own or copy/ paste...who cares...this is not school...info is brought to the table).

    2. If you feel that this watered down simplistic explanation to be something someone would write to impress...publicly accusing that person for this particuarly simple work is only reflecting on your own itellectual limits.

    3. There are no "gangs" in Clutchfans. There are members that enjoy reading quality commentary all subjuct to individual opinion. Occasionally someone may not agree with your opinion and feel it necessary to express that disagreement. "Gangs"? No...The part of your brain that has allowed you to confuse tenured comraderie and mutual respect with "gangs" is probably the same part that led you to believe that this CBA explanation was for the purpose of impressing its readers. I believe (see its an opinion b/c I started the sentence with "I") that you have personal insecurity issues to deal with.

    4. No one in here honestly believes that frequency of posting is any indication of a member's intelligence. I, for one don't post often because I enjoy reading other's opinions and I will occassionally respond to various topics with my own comments. If there are those who might feel that the number of posts a member has reflects his/her knowledge, they probably haven't been members that long b/c if they had, they would have noticed the various members with low post counts that provide quality commentary whenever they feel compelled to do so.

    5. It drives me nuts (again this is an opinion...agree or not...it's what we do here) when people like yourself make negative comments toward those members who simply try to present information for everyone to benefit from. They take the extra time to rise above the rest and present something other that the common " Fire Gundy...TMac is weak...Yao is slow"-type posts. Pepole like Gator and Prueyen...keep doing what you do...cut/paste translate, investigate, stalk players, whatever...I appreciate your work and I'm sure many others do too.

That's why I like this board....freedom....write (just about) whatever you want, whenever you want, and as often as you want. I love it!

    God Bless America!!

    Great post, dram1.

In particular I wanted to comment on the gang mentality portion -

In this particular thread, I gladly admit that I added absolutely nothing to the basketball discussion. All I had was snide remarks for TManiAC. I try to avoid that kind of thing but, unfortunately, fail all too often.

Being that this thread is one of the cases in which I've failed to restrain myself, I assume TManiAC is assuming I'm in Gator's gang. Well, I've never met Gator. We don't send messages to each other. I have no idea if he's ever even noticed my posts. I have, however, noticed over the years that he's a really great source on CBA info.

Yeah, TManiAC, we can all read it, but not all of us take the time to do so. More than that, even fewer of us take the time to really come to understand it. I really value posters like Gater, Aelliot and NikeSTRAD who have a strong understanding of the CBA and are always there to help us grasp it when we're screwing it up - and most of us screw it up pretty regularly. So yeah, when I see him pointing out why he doesn't think your proposal is valid and then you getting all hostile towards him, I can't help but come to his defense. But more than that, you came across as an insecure brat in this thread that couldn't take it when Gator shattered your little dream scenario. Also, having read this board daily for years, I know Gator (despite the name) isn't easily baited and isn't some condescending guy always out to make people look stupid. However, I don't know anything about you beyond what I've seen contained within this thread. So it's natural I'd defer to him. That's not a gang mentality. That's earned respect. If you make solid contributions to this board over years like Gator has done and continues to do, you'll get the same respect from me and the others. It's really that simple.

Wait there aren't any gangs on here...that's the only reason I joined. :)

No but seriously, we just all have to realize that most of us are gonna have different opinions and we can't make that a personal issue.

Ah ok I get it. Your idea of "cap relief" for Detroit is saving $3 million in salary plus another potential $3 million luxury tax by trading away their second best player for a borderline starter, a retiree, and a veritable headcase.

People say that the talent disparity is too large. Other people mention that your scenario in fact nets very little "cap relief" at all. Everyone thinks your proposed trade is implausible.

    You react by:
    1. Calling out a well-respected poster
    2. Fabricating an imaginary online gang out to get you
    3. Laughing at everyone for what you perceive as genuine hostility and taking things personally, yet all the while revisiting the thread yourself and responding to all the comments like the very type of person at whom you're supposedly "laughing."

Me? No...I'm not "ganging" up on you, but please just take a step back and realize how ridiculous this all is. :)

We must have forgot to jump you in. I'll tell you where and when the next BBS initiation is. Don't forget to wear your Rocket red colors or you might get shot. Also, the first 20 new members to arrive will get a Malic Baldeine bobble head doll brought to you by Methodist Hospital. ;)
