I would be willing to lose to Rice if it meant Mack Brown would be fired this year. Every UT fan I know or meet has no confidence in Mack. The pumpers must love playing devil's advocate on the internet.
I read that Cedric Benson was asked what he would rather do this year, win the Heisman, or beat OU, and he said win the Heisman. Anyone else hear that? You have to appreciate his honesty, I guess.
Yes I heard it on ESPN radio a couple of weeks ago while driving home. For some reason, it only made the sports talk-radio / internet message board circuit this week. Not sure why. The guy asking the questions asked it once, then gave Benson a second chance at answering it later in the interview. Benson repeated his Heisman answer. Unbelievable.
They won't beat OU anyways so i guess he didn't have to waste his time asnwering it. i mean the guy is being Honest....very nice =)
Yeah...I heard about that. I can't really even defend it, because I find it very dissapointing. Honest answer, but still not what you want to hear.
Of course, he also said that he'd rather win the national championship than win the Heisman. I don't think it's that big a deal. If he beats OU and doesn't win the Heisman, is he remembered in 25 years? Probably not. If they lose to OU and he wins the Heisman, he's remembered for all-time, especially at one of the biggest football schools in the nation. I don't see a problem, and I doubt his teammates, the ones who matter, do either. Benson's already talked about the fact that this year's team is closer than any other team he's been on. It just made the circuit this week because it's much ado about nada. Go Benson, Go Horns, beat the hell out of Rice.
Yeah, the quote disappointed me too. But I applaud his honesty. No cookie-cutter, media-friendly, cliche response. He told his true feelings. Nevertheless, Hook 'em and its almost time for the beatdown to begin!
Of course he'd rather win the Heisman. Who wouldn't, deep down? I'm glad he told the truth about it. They shouldn't ask such questions if they don't want the straight answer.
So much for the #1 rush defense in the country. 163 yards rushing so far in the 1st quarter. so that bumps the rice average to about 60 yards a game. Still respectable.
They should call this one at the half ~ U-G-L-Y I saw Benson at ACL fest with another dreadlocked UT player (can't remember his name) ~ CB appeared to be having a really 'mellow' time...
wow...mack going for it instead of running it to the half. that must be a first ??? is mack and GD being a little bit more aggressive....can't be.
