There are plenty of ideas floating around where we trade rice, usually in a package, for a player that we want. Now, I am no expert on the CBA, I leave that to aelliot, but couldn't we trade Rice and like a bucket of cash, maybe even a second round pick, for nothing, netting us a huge trade exception that we could then use later to facilitate a trade for a player we really want. Now I know that someone like Sterling doesn't want huge contracts, but if we sent him a bunch of money with Rice to offset his contract, wouldn't he take him for free?

Just replying because 40 people have looked and none have said anything. But what did you expect people to say to your thread.

Dude your reply is worse then not replying at all.

You know what I mean. If you are going to complain about a thread not being good. I dont think the best thing to do is reply with a equally stupid remark.

As for your question as to Rice. I think the best thing to do is let his contract to come off the books because we need cap space. And also minutes for T Mo and Boki to play at SF to see if they are good enough to hold down a spot.

The only way I would trade Rice is if he would bring in someone like J Oneal or Elton Brand. While at the same time keeping Francis and Ming.

For the 9 millionth time, the Rockets will not get any cap space from Rice leaving as a FA. Maybe more wiggle room from the luxury tax, but it has zero impact on the salary cap.

    Sydmill,

My big goal isn't to have hundreds of people reply to my threads. If it was I would post the usual "Trade Cat and a ham sandwich for Michael Jordan" crap that pops up 100 times a day with rediculous arguments on both sides. My only goal was to give people an option to consider. If they didn't have any thoughts on it, I wouldn't expect them to say anything. Thanks for trying to take my feelings into consideration or whatever your odd reply meant.

    All,

The big advantage of this trade is that you can later do another trade without matching salaries (eg Eddie Griffin for Jermaine O'Neal).

Call me crazy, but I think Indy would be able to get something better than EG for O'Neal.

You're crazy. :) It was just an example of a trade where the salaries don't match. OTOH, the Pacers probably won't get much for O'Neal if he chooses to leave (see McGrady, Pippen, Francis, etc).

PS - Why are you a dumbass?

They'll get more than the rotting cheese sandwich aka EG.
